Latest update.
Sorry its been so long since i posted, been busy Boating and doing yard work. Dreadfull combo but you have to get the yard clean to take the boat out as a reward lol. Me and Bill talked a few weeks ago on the phone. Some things he had me try was hooking up a battery charger to the truck because the Gryphon has to have exactly 18V power supply and if the batter is aged or any fans or the sterio is on it can take from that voltage since the engine isnt running. This didnt help. The next day Bill called back and said he found out there was a batch of bad harnesses from the ORBI connector to the Gryphon computer and hes pretty sure thats the problem. I mailed the entire unit back to him to replace the harness and upload the tunes to the gryphon. Just patiently waiting its return.

Thanks for updating us mmandley. I DO want to correct one thing you said though. The Gryphon needs 12+ volts during programming, not 18V.

Since there's only a nominal 12V from the battery, I would assume that Gryphons and the like have a DC-DC converter to up 12V to 18V for that one pin during PCM programming.

Imagine a plain 12 volts getting shorted onto the programming line from some miswired or faulty aftermarket scanner while somebody is driving. Or a very bad stereo installation. PCM sees that misdirected 12V and shuts down all inputs and outputs thinking it's getting reprogrammed. Not going to be a good ending in a moving vehicle. Requiring 6 volts above the normal 12V to put the PCM into that mode pretty much rules out the possibility of all but an intended PCM shutdown.

Update.
I just received the new Gryphon in the mail again today. Goign to Hook it up again in a bit and see if its works. < keeps fingers crossed >

Ok got it reinstalled and now the frustration sets back in.
Exact same problem as before. Programmer initializes and does its thing. Gets to clearing Checksum file and then says Checksum File Failed and lists the Hex code and does nothing after that. All i can say at this point is im very disappointed.

Maybe, just maybe, there's a missing "stock file"? It would not be your fault, but it WOULD take the Mad Doctor's intervention.
From everything I'm seeing, your truck would not have a "prior tune". But, it's clear Bill is going to have to work with you personally. I'll try to get his attention in the Moderator's forum. - Jack
