Default "tranny shudder" at 45-50 miles per hour

I am getting "tranny shudder" at 45-50 miles per hour when using 89 performance mode, it doesn’t do it when at stock or when the custom 89 tow tune is used.

I have 2005 5.4

The invoice # is 4469 invoice date is 5/4/2011
Hex RXCM5E4

Any help would be great .

Charlie

If you have the monochrome gryphon try raising the torque converter lock/unlock points.

He could do this with the CS/CTS platform too, Longshot.

I have the monochrome gryphon , any suggestions on the values that I need to enter? Should I copy the values that the tow mode is using?

In the custom tuning options you'll find torque converter lock points. These are speed and throttle based events that when the vehicle reaches the point the torque converter locks or unlocks. Your vehicle is currently sitting in a grey area where it can't make up its mind. Go to that setting in the custom options menu and raise both the locking point and the unlocking point by one and give it a drive. Keep raising it until the shudder goes away.

The tow tune will most likely show 0 for the locking/unlocking points because these settings are a change from the baseline.

Default Thanks for your help

I raised both the locking point and the unlocking point by two and that fixed the issue.

Question

I realize this is an old thread, and noticed you fixed your issue.

I have noticed mine shudders at the same speeds, but when the torque converter unlocks, upon light acceleration. I am currently running a stock Edge EVO on Lvl 3, and Lvl 2 when I tow. They both do it, but I also played with the shift firmness settings, it is still happening. Is this something that the Custom tunes I am waiting on might fix, or is this commeon in an 07 Screw 3.73 Rear end 2WD?

Don't play with the shift firmness setting. The OP fixed the problem by adjusting shift/lock points.

I missed that wording, I had one thing on my mind a I thought I read it. (The wonderful world of mild dyslexia, and ADD) Sot it is shift/lock points I need to bump up or down.

I placed my order for custom tunes last night, so it will be awhile before those come in. Might have to change it a point at a time and see what it does. Thanks for the clarification.
