Default Edge Evo CS questions

First question is for a guy on another forum. Is Bill upgrading the new Evos with the color screen?

I was also wondering if Bill was able to upgrade the regular gryphon screen with the color screen? I remember him saying something about it a while back.

He WILL be writing tunes for the CS and CST programmers, but is not able to do so yet.

I've not heard of the possibility of changing the screen to 3-color on the current Gryphons. I'm sure that involves hardware the unit does not have. He talked once about possibly "reversing" the colors - making the background black and the numbers in color. But, I doubt he's gotten around to that yet either.

oohhhh yeah. I couldn't remember and I also couldn't search for the thread either (even though part of it was messaging between us). I took a closer look at the CS evos and it looks like their screen is a different dimension so its no easy swap. I wonder how hard it would be to make them do shading? (if the screen is even capable of that) That would be cool.

It IS a "pretty" device, and the "analog" looking gauges are very attractive, until you realize you really want exact numbers for something (which is what I want). I'm torn, actually, the analog style is perfect for "at a glance" information. And, this is really what you want most of the time. Once in a while though, you'd like "hard" numbers, like when you're trying to troubleshoot something.

The CTS is a far bigger device than the CS. I guess it has to be to function as a screen for the backup camera.

I have no idea about shading in the screens.

I'd honestly like it to pretty much match the gauges in the truck, so it wouldn't look so much like an "add on". I've never cared for a lot of different styles in the dash readouts that you get when you start adding things to the OEM setup.

Yeah, I'm like you where the dials wouldn't look bad but I do like real numbers ever so often.
I think the CTS is bigger because of the touch screen, that would drive me crazy. My fingers are too big for that kind of stuff.

The color screen project was put on hold -- not cost effective.

Unless something changes, the new CS will be able to fit in the EVO pod but will require a new rubber boot.

And Jack, I'm sure you can adjust it to a lovely shade of purple, since I know you like it so much.

Edge is supposed to be sending a CS to Billy tomorrow for him to "play" with.

Thats what I figured but business is business. How about shades of grey? I wonder that since you can change the contrast for the whole screen if you could change individual pixels. It would probably be pretty complicated to set up a program on the gryphon IF it's possible(since they might be 'multiplexed' as wikipedia puts it).

Haha, I did figure out how to change the colors. Had a hard time matching the ford green in all light conditions(bright light was a yellow, dark was a green) so I played with the levels to match my interior neon.

MULTIPLEXED? I thought a multiplex was a movie theater with many screens. I'm feeling .

haha so did I, looks like we're both getting old. And that is why I gave wikipedia() credit. But the overly simplified term makes sense to me. Instead of sending electricity to each pixel, many screens use independent groups of pixels that all use the same voltage. (hmm, now the multiplex idea is making more sense literally. haha)
