Default CTS question

Got a friend that wants one but not on the computer much. On a 7.3 set on anti-theft and he takes the unit out of the truck will it still be anti-theft or will it revert back to stock.

If he uses an anti-theft program on a CTS and removes the unit, the anti-theft program will still be installed and the truck will not start. Of course, he will need to reprogram the PCM back to another level in order to start the vehicle.

The only reason I don't particularly recommend this is that most often people use the no-start when they plan on leaving the vehicle unattended for a sizable period of time. Over time, the battery can drain and the last thing you want to do is try to initiate a programming session on a vehicle that has a questionable battery charge. Since the vehicle is disabled, you can't start it and charge the batteries up so you could really end up in a sticky situation. Also, if you're in a cold climate you can compound the problem by having the PCM below recommended programming temperature.

As long as batteries are in good condition, the vehicle isn't going to sit for too long, and the climate is reasonable, everything should be cool.

I hope this helps.
