I think Longshot is as puzzled (confused?) by what you're saying as I am!
First, there are TWO kinds of shift points: "Part Throttle" shifts and Wide Open Throttle (WOT) shifts. The part throttle ones are the ones that can be raised or lowered by only a small amount (maybe +/-2 at 1-2, +/-3 at 2-3, and +/-5 at 3-4. These shifts should happen well below any maximum
RPM setting you have, and they will not effect the rev limit.
I have not looked in my CTS for the Rev Limit (max
RPM) setting yet. And, I'm not finding anything on this in the CS/CTS manual. But, for the older Gryphon, you got to this setting by saying "yes" to "Create a Custom Program?". This would open the "Custom Options Menu".
One of the choices in that menu was the Rev Limit. Another was WOT shift points. If you are hitting the Rev Limit, it is likely that the WOT shift points are set too high, or that the Rev Limit is too low. These are values that I found worked well for me on the old Gryphon:
1-2 Shift: 4900
2-3 Shift: 4900
3-4 Shift: 4400
Rev Limit: 5400
You need to have shift points at least 400
RPM below the Rev Limit and the 3-4 upshift needs even more.
You really don't want any shift much above 5000, because the torque and HP are dropping there, and, at 5400
rpm, your Torque Converter starts to balloon, so I would not set the Rev Limit above 5600 in any case.
I really want to drive my truck some with the "default" tune settings applied, so that's why I haven't messed with custom options yet.
See if this advice applies to the CS menu. If not, let us know and I'll see what I can find out.
