| Gryphon™ CS and CTS Programmer Post here if you have a question or comment about the Gryphon CS (Color Screen) or CTS (Color Touch Screen) Programmer.
AFTER YOU DOWNLOAD YOUR CUSTOM TUNES, DO NOT PLUG YOUR PROGRAMMER BACK INTO FUSION, OR YOUR CUSTOM TUNES WILL BE ERASED! PLEASE BE AWARE THAT IF YOU CONNECT TO FUSION FOR EDGE'S LATEST FIRMWARE UPDATE, YOU WILL ERASE YOUR CUSTOM TUNES! |

At the present time: If you connect your CS/CTS to Fusion and it "updates" the firmware, you WILL lose any "custom" tune files you have loaded!
This means that Bill will have to be notified and he'll have to find time to put your custom tune files onto Fusion's server, he'll have to notify you that they are ready, and, you will have to download and install them before the next firmware update becomes available. Once you have installed your custom files, they can no longer be accessed and, if Fusion installs a firmware update after you install/reinstall custom files, your custom files will be wiped out again! If you have custom files, you will see PHP's logo and splash screen when the CS/CTS boots up. If you do not have custom files, you will see Edge's splash screen when the unit boots. If you don't have custom files and you are notified there is a firmware update from Edge, you should install it immediately! Your truck must be put back to Level 0 (stock) BEFORE you disconnect the CS/CTS from your truck! When Bill notifies you you have custom files available (probably through an email), set your truck to Level 0 and connect the CS/CTS to Fusion to begin the "targeted" download. If your firmware is up to date, you will be able to disconnect the CS/CTS from the PC and reinstall it on your truck. But if your firmware is not already up to date, Fusion will probably update it next, wiping out your custom file download! This is why you MUST try to keep your firmware up to date if you don't already have custom files! Clearly, this is not an optimum system, and Bill is working with Edge to get it resolved so that firmware updates don't replace your custom tunes. It may take some time for this to be resolved. If you DO wipe out your custom tunes, Bill CAN restore them as his workload permits. You will have to be VERY patient! He has to do this task individually and it will take a lot of his time. The next post covers what you will see when updating firmware using Fusion. - Jack

Fusion essentially takes control. You don't have any choices once it begins the process.
Your truck MUST be at Level 0 before you connect your CS/CTS to Fusion for a firmware update! Once connected, Fusion will read information from the files already on the CS/CTS. If a firmware update is available, you will see a warning that they are available and that it will take a long time (up to 15 minutes) to install them. This is your one and only chance to back out. If you give Fusion permission to continue, you must not disconnect your CS/CTS until the process completes. This is what happens next: Step 1 of 5: Fusion downloads the firmware update.OK, this is what we know right now concerning the CS/CTS and Fusion. I'll leave this thread open so people can ask questions. Try to keep on topic. I'll delete anything that is not on topic. - Jack |

So now, let's try something new. If you go into [Help]->[Product Info], you should see a "Calibration Version" number. Now, since you have a diesel, things may be different, but maybe not. MY Calibration number is 2.3590.993 right now because I have only canned tunes at the moment. If I had custom tunes, the number might have looked like: 2.0000.993. In other words, if I saw a calibration number that looked like "n.0000.nnn", where "n" is ANY digit and the digits in the "middle" are zeros, I would know I have custom tunes. Check your Calibration number and tell us what you find. It's possible the canned tune "update" did not change the splash screen. And, you CAN program the CTS in the truck with a laptop, but you MUST set the truck's tune back to Level 0 (stock) AND you MUST disconnect the OBDII cable from the truck. It shouldn't matter if the cable stays plugged in to the back of the CTS. You just have to disconnect the CTS from the truck. - Jack |

Jack I know you go through a lot of post, but I already posted that Screen in my "CTS lost it's memory" post. I only have the vin showing. Mine is stuck in the Extreme Canned Program right now and I think that the ICP has gone bad too. Going to Dealer Monday and they know about the tuner.
The PHP screen comes up on every start, then I have to press the screen to get the gauges to work and the Power Level is at 0. |

You're right, I DO go through a lot of posts, but I'm actually talking about a different screen here. You were showing me the "Vehicle Info" screen and I was asking about the "Calibration Version" on the ""Product Info" screen.
Of course, the unit may not be working properly so it may not show you this, but I don't see why that should be the case. And, I'm just interested in the "form" of the Calibration Version (which is different than the Calibration ECM number - the "hex" code). - Jack |

And, you are using the latest firmware update (again, just like me), so, Bill should be able to set up a "targeted download" to restore your custom tunes. And, canned tunes MAY NOT restore the Edge splash screen. ![]() - Jack |

Thanks for the update Jack.
Looks like the CS/CTS process for custom tunes is going to be a little confusing for awhile. I program computers for a living and it's still a little confusing to me, lol. Though your posts cleared up most of the questions I had, so thank you. The following is for those of us who do not yet have custom tunes, but are expecting to get them in the near future. Just so I'm clear... it sounds like Fusion will wipe whatever custom tunes are placed there by Bill IF we're not on the same firmware version that Bill wrote our customs on, which should always be the latest version. Is that correct? It also sounds like if we're not on the right firmware version, for whatever reason, then whatever customs Bill put up there for us will be wiped out if we attempt to even update Fusion. This would mean that there is no way to get the customs if we're not up to date, and no way to get up to date if we're not already without wiping any downloads Bill has placed online for us. Correct? So it seems the bottom line is that if we're not up to date we'd better do it before Bill gets our customs up there, or the pooch is screwed, so to speak. Worst case being Bill has to take time out of his busy schedule to re-upload our stuff. So, the obvious question is how do we know if we're up to date, how do we know when updates happen, and do we have any idea how often they happen so we all know how often to unplug our programmers from the truck and plug them into the computer? Sorry for all the questions... just want to be 100% sure I know what's up. Thanks!
