Default Pod Mount?

How does the pod attach to the dash? Just velcro? and whats the angle bracket used for in mounting?

Have wondered what that angled piece is for too. But as far as attaching, I didn't use anything. Mine fits plenty tight just by itself.

No one seems to need the little "angle" piece. The pod should "snap" onto the dash and it's very secure just like that, no velcro needed either.

Just curious. What color is the pod? If it is black, how do you know what color to paint it to match the dash? I have a gun metal color on my 2006 F150. Thanks.

The pod color is an almost "exact" match to the "slate grey" dash color that I think yours is.

The angled piece is probably there to slow people down to think, "An extra piece?!? Hmmm, products are usually short a few, maybe I did something wrong." I ended up using the angled piece for another project that wasn't even truck related.

Great! That is one less thing to worry about. I don't know if this a good place to ask, but do you guys leave the CTS or CS in the pod at all times? The reason I ask is, what about heat? I worry about things getting too hot on my dash as it is. If I set my phone on the dash on a nice hot summer day for even an hour, the screen looks all discolored until it has a chance to cool down. I know electronics and heat don't mix to well. Also, are there any concerns of theft?

Thanks again.

I'd imagine that they had heat in mind when they designed it but you would have to ask if anyone is having trouble with it. I know that you can remove it but it sounds like it may be a pain in the rear to do so every time you leave your truck.

Heat CAN be a problem, and causes the screen to turn black in the older Edge/Gryphons. I don't know if this is a problem with the CS/CTS units.

I have a windshield shade I use anytime I'm parked away from my garage. Not only does it shield the programmer from the direct sun's rays, but it also "darkens" the interior making the Gryphon harder to see and less inviting to those who would like to "liberate" it.

I've NEVER had trouble with the screen and heat in my old Gryphon, and don't expect to have that problem with the CTS.

I left our truck parked in a hotel parking lot in San Diego when we took a recent week long trip into Baja California. I put the Gryphon under the rear seat while we were gone and used the windshield shade too. Everything was fine when we returned.

It WOULD be a pain to remove every time you parked the truck, I don't do that. It and the pod are gone if I go to the dealer. I remove it if I think there's a danger of it "walking away". Otherwise, it sits happily on my dash.

Pic of mine from the other day.

It's not THAT bad but I'm definitely going to paint it to match asap.
