Hi Everyone.
I have a question regarding my recent order for a CS and the invoice I received. The text of the invoice is: Gryphon CS (Color Screen) Programmer - Gas Vehicle 1: CUSTOM - 87 Performance 2: CUSTOM - 93 Performance 3: CUSTOM - 87 Tow *We generally do not recommend using stock "canned tunes" if you have a Cold Air Intake. If you have a CAI, you should be able to run the Level 2 canned tune -- which is an 87 Tow tune and tends to run richer -- while you are waiting for your custom tunes. So this unit is supposed to arrive on Tuesday - the question is - is it coming with the custom tunes already programmed via the info I completed on the order form or is it canned CS tunes? |

Sorry, I'm going to disagree here. I'm reasonably certain the CS/CTS units ship with the canned tunes when the units are ordered from PHP. This way, you get to "play" with the unit quicker.
It usually takes about a month to write custom tunes (and sometimes longer). When they are ready, you will be notified in an email and you can upload them to your CS using the Fusion application that is on a CD that ships with the CS. Until you get your custom tunes, DO use the Level 2 canned tune. This thread: The Latest On Using Fusion to Update a CS/CTS will also tell you how to verify if you have custom tunes or not. If the calibration version looks like: "n.0000.nnn" or "n.0000.nnnn" (middle numbers all zero, you have custom tunes). - Jack

Great! Thanks for clarifying. From some of the other threads (1 i think
) it looked like canned tunes first and custom tunes later.

How long should I expect the custom tunes to take? From what I've seen - it's 4 to 6 weeks, right? I sent my Hex code into hexcode@phptune.com on July 10th and haven't heard back.
I also sent a follow up on 8/17 to see if there was a problem, or if it was not received, or anything - there's been no contact. Now, I understand that I'm in a queue and all - and the custom tunes do take some time... and y'all are busy, but a little contact - or at least an auto-reply letting me know you got my email would go a long way in putting my mind at ease. |
