Default Gryphon CTS vs Insight CTS/FU chip dilemma

Is the only difference between a Gryphon and Edge Insight is that the Gryphon has the ability to change performance settings? Is that the only difference?

I like the looks and functions of the CTS but I would like the ability to change tunes like the FU/burner package and use an Insight for gauges.

Does this make sense?

Thanks, Dave S.

You can use the Insight in conjunction with a Phoenix chip (FU package) with no problems. The Insight does not come with a thermocouple probe for EGT, but it is an option for $99.

In that case, you'd be looking at $495 for the FU package plus whatever the cost of the Insight CTS is (I don't have the price available to me where I am located for the winter), but I know it's less than $400.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I think that would work the best for me, using the Insight CTS with the FU package. But after reading what little edge literature I could find on the CTS, can the CTS factory or Gryphon model read transmission temps from OBDII port on a 2001 F350? I know i'll need the thermocouple for the egt. What would I need to get the tranny temp if it is not readable through the OBDII port?

Thanks, Dave S.

You would need a mechanical gauge. The gauge comes with a sending unit that fits in the pressure test port on the driver's side of the transmission.

I am looking at this same issue. I like the Insight CTS for a gauge/monitor but I think I would prefer the FU chip package. I am running a 2002 F350.

Does PHP have the ability/willingness to bundle them as a package with whatever you need to read exhaust gas and auto trans temps? If I am going this route I would really prefer to get everything from one source.
