Default I have 2 questions!

First question:

Stupid me, I bought and installed a K&N CAI before I read the F150 forums and saw the warnings from people about CAI the negatives of running lean and all that stuff. Yes I know about the gotts mod, I don't think I will go that route.

I currently do not have a tuner, I was planning on buying a Gryphon CTS and getting my truck custom tuned for the CAI and my borla exhaust. Is it better for my truck to go back to the stock intake or just keep my aftermarket CAI and wait for custom tunes? or does it really matter because Bill will write a tune for the CAI?

I know his opinion would probably go back and do gotts mod, but if I don't have to change it, I really don't want to. Plus I wasted $266 on the damn thing. Plus I try not to run my truck hard to avoid leaning.

I do notice though when I my truck is cold or has been shut off for about a few hours it would start loud then go quite. If I start my truck from a cold start and do not let it warm up for about 30 seconds, then immediately drive off, the truck hesitates and kinda shutters like its not responding to me give it gas. That would only last for about, again 30 seconds until the truck warms up then it drives fine. If I start the truck, wait 30 seconds, drive off, I get no symptoms and it drives normal. Is this normal with a CAI and aftermarket exhaust?

Also, what time of the year is your least busiest with custom tunes? I am sure its all year. I want to place my order with the fastest possible turnaround.

I'm sorry if I rambled on and I have more than 2 questions

Thanks!

I would switch back to the stock intake until you get the tunes for it.

Sounds like the truck is just cold. There are sensors that need to warm up for the truck to run efficiently. I'd let the truck idle for 30 seconds to avoid the issues.

They are kinda busy all the time and he does the tunes on a first come first served basis. So if you were to wait for a "slow" time (which there really aren't any) you could have already had your tune by placing it as soon as you ordered. Your turn around time may be 2 weeks but is it worth waiting a a few months for that?

Is it better to leave my CAI with a tune or have factory intake with custom tune or does it not matter?

I took my cai out and did the Gotts mod. I have better results now with my new custom 87 tune than I did with my cai and those custom tunes. It's your call on what you want to do.

gotts mod with custom tune running a paper filter.....
But since you spent the money on a Cai then keep it and use it along with custom tunes but be aware that the maf and tb should be cleaned more regularly due to the filter oil...

Na I am going to take it out ASAP and sell it.

I have a 3rd question, lol.

When filling out the order form they ask for the Gear Ratio is the same as the axle ratio? Because my axle ratio is 3.73:1. I would like to confirm this before I submit my order.
