When I bought my Edge Evo for my 08 STX I was lead to believe it had 4 tune levels. After installing it I only have 3. Tranny, towing and 91 octane power. Did I get screwed? I am also having difficulty finding power upgrades for this 4.6 2 valve. Plenty to choose from if I had the 5.4. I did put on a CAI and magnaflow cat back, but the horsepower numbers need to be much higher. I noticed the gains for my 4.6 are weak compared to the 5.4 with these additions. Do I just have a poor platform to work with?

what do I do to get the 4 programs. I was really wanting the mileage and the 87 performance tunes. I updated first then installed. The unit just shows the 3.

Pete, you're misunderstanding what shotgun said. If you have a CS/CTS, it comes with three "advanced" canned tunes and your stock tune (which it saves) makes four. And, according to Bill, the CS/CTS platform can be programmed by him to hold up to 20 "custom tunes". You would pay for each of them at the standard rate for a custom tune (I think $60.00 per tune if you're converting an Edge to a Gryphon).
If you have the older monochrome Evolution, it holds 3 canned or custom tunes and the stock tune - and no more. But, unless you have a diesel, which is where you might be getting confused, the unit does not have 4 canned tunes (in addition to the stock tune) from the Edge factory. - Jack

Got it. My confusion is the info Edge puts out for their unit states I get one thing but my owners manual says my Ford gets another. That's OK. I will get the tunes I want from Bill. I make many runs up to Seattle from Portland and would love to get maximum mileage. But there is a local guy I want to embarrass at the track. My 99 4.2 v6 responded so much better with these mods so I thought my 08 would also. Thanks for the info.

To make matters worse, the Ford guys get a bit hosed because they only get 4 tunes while the GM guys get something like 5-7 levels. This really creates a problem for me when a customer gets the device and is wondering where their programs are.
We try to make very clear the number of levels available for a specific platform and we apologize if there is any misunderstanding. As to the 4.6L, it is unfortunately an under-developed platform as far as performance products go. There are a few popular modifications such as CAI kits, exhausts, and other small bolt-on stuff, but the lions share of the performance products go the big brother... the 5.4L. From an economical standpoint this makes the most sense, since the 4.6L accounts for probably less than 10% of the F150 builds. I know the 4.6L accounts for less than 5% of our F150 sales. Sadly, the displacement of the engine in comparison to the sheer weight of the vehicle is always going to be at a disadvantage. Unlike the older F150 ('97-'03) which were a bit smaller and lighter, the new F150 is just a bit too heavy. Programmers and bolt-ons will help, but the engine is simply poorly matched for the application.
