Question Ethanol blend question

I have an '07 F150 4x4 5.4L. Ordered a gryphon cs with 3 custom tunes last week (87&93 performance and 87 tow). I swore there was a question on the order form that asked if your area sold ethanol blended gasoline, and I answered no. When looking back over my order today I could not find that question on my form. The problem is I do believe my local gas stations do sell an ethanol blend. Will this cause any problems with my custom tunes, since I answered no? Our am I just going crazy and that wasn't even a question on the order form? Thanks for the help!!!

I cant answer for sure if that was a question on the order form, but I dont remember answering it when I ordered my custom tunes a few months ago, also Bill knows that most areas nowadays add ethanol to their gasoline, so he will probably account for that. Just call when they are open again to make sure they have all the info.
on another note, being that your truck is an 07, it should be able to run the E85 ethanol blend gasoline if I remember right, and if you plan on using that gas instead of normal gas then you for sure need to tell Bill.

To my knowledge, E10 isn't much of an issue. Bill can speak to what, if any, changes he makes in the programming for E10, but to my understanding it's mostly timing. The O2 sensors can make the minor fuel trim adjustments. The E10 can support a little more timing, in my experience. I added a degree or two of advance (incrementally) in the custom programming (in TOW) and the truck handles it. Being able to play with the timing somewhat compensates for the loss of MPG that comes with E-blends, but not quite all. E85 is another matter, of course, that requires a full custom tune (and sometimes other stuff).

One thing to bear in mind that "E10" is ever changing. According to the EPA and a couple of industry sources I consulted, "E10" can actually be anything from E6 to E14 due to blending errors and the seasonal changes. In areas where the weather turns cold, they dial back the ethanol content to E5 or E6 and add benzine to increase the RVP (Ried Vapor Pressure) from about 7 RVP to up to 15 RVP. That further decreases MPG potential but makes the fuel burn better, more easily, for cold starts. Potentially, that means you might have to dial back your extra timing in winter... though with the low temps that may not be a problem. It hasn't been for me, anyway. Again, the O2 sensors can adjust the fuel mixture to suit.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, my truck can run E85, but I don't plan to use it. I just wanted to make sure wether I ran an ethanol blend our straight gas that neither would effect my custom tunes. Sounds like everything should be fine though. Thanks again!!

Not all can run e85......
Flex fuel vehicles are still an option and have not been standardized.

Through some of my research a non flex fuel vehicle can run up to 34% ethanol without any adverse effects.
But the jury is still out on the final verdict.

do those adverse affects that arent there include gas mileage? I thought that ethanol gets worse gas mileage in our trucks, or is that just the winterblend crap they make us buy?

Yes mileage can be considered one of them....due to the energy components of ethanol being less than gas.

More so I was addressing the actual hardware....the orings, hoses, pumps, injectors, ........etc
