Essentially, Bill lumps economy and performance tunes together. So, if you normally fill with 89 octane gas, ask for an 89 performance tune. The problem with hi-octane tunes is not that they are no good, but that they just cannot take FULL advantage of the anti-knock properties of the fuel since the 5.4 is not a high compression engine. You WILL get improved performance with that tune, but it may not be worth the cost, both in the tune itself and in the increased cost of fuel. Most people report improved gas mileage though, so it COULD even out. The only way to know is to try it. I only put 87 octane gas in my truck, so I have an 87 octane non-tow and and 87 octane towing tune. - Jack
