Hey there guys I'm looking to order a CTS with custom tunes for a 00 Expedition with a 5.4 next week. I have a K&N CAI and a catback Flowmaster and 22' rims (i don't know if that makes any difference). I'm seeking for more performance and I'm also interested in increasing my mpg.

I was thinking of getting a custom 89 performance and a custom 93 performance tune and also an economy tune but now that I've looked into the econmy tune I don't think that it's available?

I was also reading in another thread that a 93 performance tune wouldn't do any good for the 5.4 because of engine compression issues, is that correct?

I think Bill can write tunes for an Expy using the CTS. Simply tell Bill about all the mods when you actually order the tunes.

Essentially, Bill lumps economy and performance tunes together. So, if you normally fill with 89 octane gas, ask for an 89 performance tune.

The problem with hi-octane tunes is not that they are no good, but that they just cannot take FULL advantage of the anti-knock properties of the fuel since the 5.4 is not a high compression engine. You WILL get improved performance with that tune, but it may not be worth the cost, both in the tune itself and in the increased cost of fuel. Most people report improved gas mileage though, so it COULD even out. The only way to know is to try it.

I only put 87 octane gas in my truck, so I have an 87 octane non-tow and and 87 octane towing tune.
