Default Communication Error

New member looking for some assistance!

I purchased an Edge CS a few weeks ago, everything has been working fine.

I ordered some custom tunes where the invoice stated they would be ready by April 29th. Being a little anxious, I returned my truck to Stock and connected to my PC, and let Fusion do it's job. No errors.

Went out to the truck, plugged it in, selected Ford, turned the key on as instructed and then got this message that will not clear no matter how many times you push enter to continue.

Message :

Vehicle Communication Error
Failed to Read J253422D100
Press Enter to Continue.

After many attempts. I turned off the key, disconnected the Edge from the truck and reconnected to my PC and ran Fusion again.

No errors - everything went okay and it stated no updates.

Tried it again on the Truck with the same error.

Any suggestions as it appears the Edge cannot communicate with the ECM for whatever reason?

OK, you're the second person with this problem?

I'm guessing there is a problem with a file that was on the Fusion server that got applied to your programmer.

The fault could be at PHP or it could be at Edge.

I'm going to try to attract PHP's attention to this so that they can determine the culprit.

I agree,

After I had purchased the Edge initially, the Edge worked fine with the Truck.

Before I got the communication Error, I had connected the Edge to Fusion and let it do it's thing where it stated no Updates. Reconnected to the Ford and all worked just fine.

It was only tonight when I connected to Fusion that it downloaded some files and then the communication error occured.

I haven't heard anything regarding this issue so I thought I would reconnect the Edge to Fusion. It stated no updates.

I tried it on the truck and the same issue appears.


How do I get some support to have this fixed TODAY?

Essentially once you get the error you cannot get past it.

I have been watching the live chat all morning and no one seems to be logging in from PHP.

I have called the phone number a number of times where you cannot leave a message and it politely asks you to call again later.

Very nice and courteous but sure doesn't help someone having to call back and pay long distance fee's each time.



Hence my earlier reply - How do you get some support TODAY?

Settle down and try calling edge.....PHP has been notified of your issue...

Thanks for the response, but after calling Edge I was instructed to get in touch with PHP! They cannot help!


It's nice that PHP has been notified. But when is someone going to respond from PHP?

Asking a customer to start chasing Edge instead of PFP, isn't an effective service solution from a customer perspective.

Not being able to contact anyone via phone ( can't leave a message ) or no one comes on to the live technical support chat, and so I have no other alternative but to leave these updates on this open forum!

Given that the phone message states PHP closes at 3, It doesn't look good that I will have a working unit this weekend!

Essentially my purchase of the EDGE product through PHP and the custom tunes has left the product in-operable!

As 88Racing said, I DID bring this to PHP's attention. I'm sorry you feel you're being given the runaround. More than ever, I'm convinced the "communication error" is a problem at Edge, and Bill is going to have to convince them they have a problem before they'll correct it. Sometimes, this takes time.

I know it's hard to be patient, but that's what I'm asking you to be. The problem WILL get fixed, when the cause is determined.

Now, as for the problem.....

Your custom tunes have not yet been put on Fusion. They're done, but not on Fusion yet so any errors at this point are totally PHP-unrelated. However, if you bought the CS from us, then we will have to address the issue on Monday.

I have the same problem as well. I recieved my new Edge Evo CS on Saturday and the first thing I did was to updated it via Fusion. Now when I connect it to the truck I get the same error.
