Ok I am new here. Im sure this topic has been covered already several times but regardless, I am still having some difficulty understanding. I currently have been using a CS on my 2005 f150. I wish to do some mods on my truck where custom tunes are a must.
Now I DO NOT have a gryphon CS. Do I need to send it to PHP to be converted? Or can everything be done via software being sent to me. Having to Send it away for several weeks would be hard for me to do! Thanks. |

![]() If you have an Edge CS, you will NOT send it in for any kind of "conversion". That procedure only applied to the older, monochrome Edge Evolutions. You'll simply fill out a tune request form you can find on PHP's website and your tunes will be available for upload to your programmer through Fusion (a PC application you should already have), once they are written. Once you have custom tunes on your CS, it officially becomes a "Gryphon". - Jack

Since I'm just a Moderator here, I don't really know the time frame for tunes. Your truck is well-understood (same year as mine), so I would not expect any "glitches". Depending on PHP's workload, I'd guess between 2-4 weeks.
One thing to be aware of though is your gas octane rating. I know that SOME Canadian stations (you have a big country) sell gas whose octane rating is determined by the "Research" method only. Our truck engines are designed to use 87 octane as determined by an average of the "Research" and "Motor" testing methods "(R+M)/2", and that fact is normally shown on the pump. If the lowest octane gas you see is 90-91, then it is probably "Research" only and is really the same as our 87 octane stuff. So, if that is the case, and you use 91 octane gas, get 87 octane tunes. You would need to be filling with 94-95 octane stuff to be the same as 91 (R+M)/2 gas. - Jack |

Timeframe on the F150 tunes is 10-14 days.
