Blownford, I understand you are new here, but please don't "piggyback" on someone else's thread. The thread you posted in really has two distinct problems and it makes it difficult to figure out what YOUR problem is when you say you have the same problem.

Now, as I understand it - and this is to make things easier for Bill, your CS screen is black when you start the truck after it's been sitting in the hot sun all day.

If this is the case, it's actually very normal for LCD screens. They don't like hot environments. If it's exposed to the sun, in the summer, the internal temperature of the unit will probably get into the 140 degree range due to solar heating. The unit will not function at that temperature.

Try using a sunshade, that will keep the programmer from receiving direct sun loading. This will reduce the temperature to the 110-120 degree range, which it MIGHT be able to deal with. But, the 120 degree point is kind of the "breakpoint" for these things. You really need to keep it cooler, if you expect it to work.

If you don't believe me, try leaving your cell phone or I-Pad on the dash in the sun. See how well it works after being hot-soaked all day.

Hot dashes are NOT an LCD display's friend. After starting the vehicle and getting the A/C cranked for a few minutes, the display will return to normal function. I deal with this from time to time with both my CTS and my GPS.

The customer called and is sending the programmer back to Edge for repair/replacement.

Thanks for letting us know, Cody. Do you have any idea if this relates to the screen driver issue on CS units that Edge put out a firmware update for several months ago? (They also notified all registered CS owners by email too, I believe, to perform that update.)
