Default What can I expect and recommendations

I am trying to figure out which tunes I should get for my Gryphon CTS on my Excursion.

I am after basic economy with the added performance that I get from my mods I have done.

1) 4" MBRP turbo back w/ muffler
2) Gryphon CTS, currently running canned level 2
3) AFE Stage II CAI
4) BTS trans valve body
5) About to install a 31 row 6.0 tranny cooler

My usage will be driving around by my son when his car is down, pulling my 6500 Lb boat to the ramp with an occassional trip out of town and/or state, pulling the band trailer in town and maybe out of town for away games and once or twice a year pulling a 12K enclosed car trailer to a national event.

I know I want the 40HP heavy tow.

I am undecided on the 65 or 80 HP DD tunes. Is the 65 more economical? I understand both will pull my boat with no problems.

I am also looking at the 120R tune to play with occassionally.

I am looking for advice on what I shoud do and expect out of the different tunes.

Also, what is the theft stuff that I see that is offered for free? I know I have to upload to my PCU the programming and it is not like a 6 position switch to turn to one of them.

Thanks for any and all help,
Mike

BUMP, anyone ?

I am thinking that people do not run the 65 and 80 HP tunes on the same truck to switch between to answer this.

How about the theft option, what is this?

Thanks,
Mike

As stated in the PM, I would recommend the 65DD for your application and type of driving for which you're using the truck.

Anti-theft is geared toward chips, not programmers. You'd have to go through an entire tuning process to make the truck not start and then when you wanted to restart the truck, you'd have to go through the same reprogramming process....basically, you'd have 5-6 minutes of down time to go through the whole programming circle of "killing" the truck and then making it run again. Besides, it WOULD take up one of your three available tunes on the programmer.

THANKS !

You have helped finalize my decision for tunes.

Now I understand the theft feature.
