Default CTS Remote Start

I finally got my CTS yesterday, today after work I used my remote start from my desk and when I got to my truck my CTS did not come on. I then turned the truck off opened the door to kill the power and re started, it still didn't come on.

I then (probably not the smartest idea) unplugged the unit with the truck off and then plugged it back in and started the truck and it came right on.

Is this normal?

I don't think there was any problem in unplugging and plugging it back in. The CTS is a bit more "forgiving" regarding the way it reacts to being plugged in than the older monochrome units. There, you had to have the ignition ON before plugging them in.

With the CS/CTS devices, you can plug them in at any time, ignition ON or OFF. But - and this might be the problem with remote start, they don't normally boot until they see the ignition turned to START. With remote start, they don't get that signal.

However, once you move the ignition switch to ON, so you can drive your truck, you can simply touch the screen on the CTS to turn it on. Try that, and let us know if that works. (This is a way to activate it if you want to turn it on without starting the vehicle too. For those who have the CS, you touch the menu button to do this.)

I don't know enough about remote start to tell you if there's a way to make it activate the CTS. I sort of suspect there isn't.

Mine always came on with the remote start......do as jack suggested and just touch the screen....who knows it might be a sign of your battery going bad....

Since it worked with yours, 88, I take back my opinion in the previous post. It can obviously be made to come on with Remote Start. I wonder then, if there's a different way to wire the Remote Start?

There've been numerous posts in forums about problems in the way Remote Starts were installed.

Mine was an aftermarket one installed at a shop the Ford dealer used for customers who wanted remote starts before Ford started offering the OEM ones.....

Maybe the issue is an OEM one? Seems like they've been causing the most problems....

Sorry for the delay the next time and every time since it has worked flawlessly with the remote start. Must have just been a fluke. Thank you for the quick responses I have noticed that is a common thing on this forum.

I posted a thread on F150online finally showing some pictures and a mod list for my truck. Figured it would give me a chance show it off here to!

No restrictions - nice truck!

I like your color matched Line-X. I have Line-X in the bed too, but mine's black. (With the bed cap on, I felt it was sort of a waste of time to colorize it.)

Do you have any problem with dirt/scuff marks on the silver Line-X? That was the other reason I went with black, because I tend to haul some fairly dirty things in the bed at times, like cut up logs for the fireplace and a chainsaw that likes to drip oil.

Thank You. I have not tested it to much yet, today I had to bring some rusty 55 gal drums to a job site and it turned out fine after dragging them through the bed. That is my worry as well but so far so good.
