Default 2007 F150 5.4 sputtering

Hey,

A quick question to anyone really. I have a 07 f150 5.4 with aFe cold air, and magnaflow exhaust. I just received my gryphon cs and am waiting for my custom tunes to come in.

Just recently while running the tow tune (the richer tune) my truck seemed to be sputtering while holding speed constant with slight acceleration. Is this sputter a result of it running too lean, or could it just be the sensitivity of the gas pedal? Maybe my foot slipping slightly and causing what seemed to be a sputter or not accelerating enough. I really have to almost try to make this occur. It doesn't occur under normal acceleration but only when I try and give it just a little bit of gas.

Any thoughts?

Just wondering the safest method, just go back to stock until my custom tunes arrive or ignore this as it isn't an issue (if it doesn't sound like an issue with running lean)

Thanks fellow members.

With the tune loaded and programmer unplugged.....disconnect the battery for 30 minutes....then reconnect battery and plug programmer back in.m..

BTW.....the CS has the canned tunes from edge not php....edges tow tune does run a bit richer but not like the one Bill put together for the monochrome gryphon....

Also you may want to try cleaning the maf and throttle body while the battery is disconnected....

Could I just not go back to stock for the short time until my custom tunes come back? Would that make any difference? I can do without the performance for now, it really isn't that big of a deal.

Yes....you can run in stock mode...but if the tb or maf are dirty they still need to be cleaned....

Default 2005 F150 5.4L Stumbling

Hey, I see this is an old post but it's right up my alley. I have an '05 F150 5.4 with an S&B CAI, Corsa Exhaust, Gryphon programmer, and multiple custom tunes. It doesn't seem to matter which tune I run, I get these same symptoms. Your cruising in O/D, slightly accelerate or hit a bump in the road that causes the pedal to fluctuate, and the truck stumbles as if it doesn't know whether to down shift or not. If I stand on it, she gets up and moves with a quickness. As the.goobchik mentioned, it only happens when slightly accelerating or giving it just a little gas. Does this sound like throttle body or MAF? If so, what's the best way to go about cleaning those?

Other than this little hiccup (and the CAI drones), I love the custom tunes and the truck's performance so any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply and links. I did a little research on cleaning after my post (will do it prior next time) and I was wondering about the cleaners. I will definitely do this just because it is probably long overdue.

Do you think that is what's causing the engine to "stumble" on gradual acceleration?

I have this too. running around 30-35 mph very slight acceleration and a small twitch of the foot can cause the rpms to go way up (maybe up to 2500) with no resultant acceleration (also like a transmission slip)- i've always thought of it as an RPM Flare for which there was a tsb.

I can do this on stock or on custom tune in my 08 f150.

Most times after this occurs - I also get the rough idle at stop (re-starting the truck seems to resolve this though).

I have no solutions to the flare though.

I forgot to mention - I cleaned my throttle body and MAF around 2000 miles ago and this still occurs.
