Default Canned CS tunes causing problem. Will custom tunes fix this?

I got a CS just before Christmas and I ordered 3 custom tunes with it. I've put the HEX code, serial number, etc in the forum section it's supposed to go in. The canned tunes on the CS are not working with my truck. They make my truck's RPMs go up to 3500 or 4000 and make the engine sputter if I floor it. It won't accelerate. They work fine driving normally. I've called Edge several times, and they sent me 2 updates on Fusion that didn't help. They said to put a new fuel filter on it, and that didn't help either. Today, they said that the Gotts air intake mod (replaced the stock intake snorkel in the fender wall with a 3" pipe to increase intake volume) is probably causing it. Could that be right? And is it necessary to compensate for the Gotts mod in the custom tunes I ordered?

The Gotts Mod should have no effect, but the K&N filter (if it's an "oiled" one) could. If the oil has fouled the MAF sensor, you'd have poor performance.

And, the X-Pipe exhaust may be causing the problem too. I'm pretty sure you need custom tuning for that mod.

However, I'd try returning the intake to stock to see if the problem persists.

Sorry, you're confusing me. Normal when the intake is back to stock or the tune? And, don't do both at once. You want to know which is the real problem.

It's normal when the tune is set to stock with the Gotts mod. I haven't tried putting the stock snorkel back on. It was also normal with the Gotts mod before I got the CS

OK - I thought that was the case, but I wanted to be sure. I DO think Edge's canned tunes are the problem then, but I really don't see why they should be. Unless, the X-pipe is causing a problem (which is possible).

Remember, a tune is "expecting" a stock setup in perfect operating condition as a baseline, unless the tune is customized for something different. Did you tell Edge about the X-pipe?

I did tell them about the x-pipe one time I called, but they didn't really say anything about it. Every time I call, I talk to a different person and they have a different idea each time. One time they said change the fuel filter, one time it was the Gotts mod, 2 other times they sent me a fix on Fusion that didn't fix anything

The trouble is, I think, is that you're not talking to a "Ford expert". (I had one tell me that once.) I'm pretty sure they have a number of Tech Service people on board, but they're really only trained in the problems peculiar to Edge programmers.

Bill is much more aware of the interactions that result from modifications combined with tunes on our trucks, but his time is just too limited right now.

I feel sure that if you EVER get your custom tunes and Bill knows you have the X-pipe, your problems will go away.

I THOUGHT they were taking about a month, but with the holidays and then with Corey's MAJOR health issues, I'm sure that's slipped. I'm sorry, I cannot be more specific than that. I'm just a moderator here and I live clear across the Country from them, so I can't just walk up and "ask".
