Default Pegasus v2.01.0575 (BETA) released.

Hey all! After several weeks of hammering away on a bunch of the core problems, we've finally got what looks like a stable release of the Pegasus software.

If you already have Pegasus installed, simply go to the [Update] menu and then the [Pegasus Update Manager]. This should get the latest version downloaded onto your computer.

If you do not already have Pegasus, or if you are having problems connecting to the server due to internet or firewall issues, check the following post to download the latest installer.

Using Pegasus to update your hardware.

So what's new you ask? Here is a list of the latest changes in v2.01.0575:
  • FTP transfers have been done away with in favor of HTTP. This should help resolve most of the connection issues that several customers were having when trying to download their custom files. Since HTTP is the same protocol websites use, blockage is much less of a problem. Some proxy servers may still have problems, but those should be very few.
  • The software now has a Registration box where you can enter your contact information along with information retrieved from your programmer and that information is then transferred to our server. This information can be entered by going to [Help] and then [Registration].
  • You can now check whether or not your custom calibrations are available for download by going to [Updates] and then [Current Update Status]. Any information regarding your update is then displayed in the main window. Keep in mind that if you calibrations are not complete, there will be no update information available. Also, this feature works ONLY AFTER you have filled in the Registration information and have retrieved the device information from your programmer.
  • For those with device connection (COM Port) issues with Vista, we have now included an option to manually enter a COM Port which will override the Auto-Detect feature of the software. I can't guarantee it (since we don't have a test platform) but this may also fix the Vista 64 issues as well.
  • We have fixed the connection issues where it was necessary to disable the UAC in Vista in order for the software to locate the device.
  • The [Read Critical Files] option in the [Utilities] menu will now transfer a copy of the files retrieved from your unit to our server. I do plan to add a switch or other means to bypass the transfer just so customers aren't stuck sending a couple Megabytes every time they read the files in their unit. This should help to not only improve technical support on driveability issues but also provides a means for customers to store a pristine copy of their vehicle's PCM information on our server.
  • In the latest version of the installer, we have also included a [Start] menu shortcut to the Update.exe application. We've discovered a problem with Vista's Security features that often prevents our software from executing the update utility directly from the Pegasus application. If you receive an error that states the software was not able to apply the current updates, run the [Update Pegasus] shortcut from the [Start] menu. We are looking for a better way to handle this, but this was a quick, temporary fix.
That about sums it up for this iteration.

If anyone has any problems, questions, comments, concerns, rhetoric, anecdotes, or just plain old praise, let me know.

Next up for Pegasus? The ability to change the Level files and programming menu without having to go through a major rebuild on our end. Not sure how helpful this would be for F150 guys, but the diesel guys will like the ability to select from a library of tunes. Who knows? I just may even get around to fixing the Custom Options Editor in the Utilities menus.

Take care and God bless.

Sounds great.

Not that this is really a problem but I am running 32 bit vista ( I downloaded my tunes last week off of windows xp though) but anyways I decided I would try and update pegasus on my vista computer that I mainly use. Well it goes good up to the part that seems like the end and I get an error thats

comdlg.ocx

Now this is no big deal to me since I now have access to XP but just thought I would mention it.

That's the stuff I need to know...

You might try uninstalling and do a full installation using the new version from the website. This fixes a few issues with unregistered controls.

Let me know...

So is there a registration form to fill out now with the new pegasus? I would have thought all the info would already be there?

Yup! It's all free, and gives you access to some cool features - some of which are on the way.
