Default Version ID error?

The other day I decided to pull my gryphon out of the truck & make sure it was up to date via Pegasus (I set my truck back to stock prior). I followed the sticky on how to do so, I updated the client then decided to go ahead & reload the canned tunes on it as well, this is where the problem comes in. Pegasus updated just fine but then when I tried to reload/update the gryphon itself it stopped half way through & now gives me a Version ID error whenever I plug the gryphon into my computer & won't let me go any farther. I'm afraid to plug it back into my truck, did I mess it up? The error reads "Unable to determine Gryphon Version. The Gryphon may be in 'Run' mode, is currently set as a Stock Writer, or the Memory is corrupted." Thanks in advance, other than this I LOVE it, best $400 i've spent on my truck.

Need some basic info first.
You are using the old gryphon with the monochrome screen correct?
What year, model, ect do you have(also wouldn't hurt to update your user CP)?
Have you tried to update the gryphon again with the gryphon update manager?

Sorry about that, yeah it's the original Gryphon not the CS or CTS. 2006 XLT Supercrew with the 4.6. I haven't plugged it back into my truck though since Pegasus gave me that error. Not sure if it's ok to or not.

Edit: Was browsing the forum & came across this: http://forum.gopowerhungry.com/calib...hon-stock.html -- seems he had the exact same problem i'm having now. Anybody know how/if he resolved the issue?

It won't let me get that far, as soon as I open pegasus with the gryphon connected it gives me the error.

Is this what comes up?
model ID error.jpg
And is the gryphon screen blank red, blank green or the main menu from when it's plugged into the truck?

If you click ok, sometimes it will still let you do updates and such.

Yes that is the exact error I get. I haven't plugged it into the truck yet as i'm not sure if it will somehow mess anything up but when I plug it into the computer it goes to blank green. I've tried clicking ok & it lets me through to the main menu but when I go to click gryphon update manager it isn't selectable.

As Longshot said, try clicking on OK.

But first, BEFORE you even plug the Gryphon in, click on [Updates]->[Pegasus Update Manager] to make absolutely sure that you are running the latest, greatest version of Pegasus.

Then, when that finishes, plug your Gryphon in. Click OK if the error message comes up. Then, click [Updates]->[Custom File Download], not Gryphon Update Manager!. This MAY restore any corrupted files you have on the Gryphon. There have been no firmware updates for the Gryphon in over a year, so there's no point in using Gryphon Update.

Your problem may be caused by an "overactive" PC, that is trying to do so many tasks that the Gryphon "thinks" that communication has been lost. Try to limit other processes as much as possible during a custom tune download. In particular, virus checkers and backups can cause this "comm timeout" behavior.

If this does not set things straight, Bill will have to help you.

Oh yeah, like Jack said, try to cutdown on the number of programs running in the background.

Jack, the reason I told him to redo the update manager was to delete the old stuff and replace it but I forgot that the custom download does the same thing AND replaces the custom.

I'll give it a shot, v2.01.0640 is the most up to date version of Pegasus correct?

Edit: I'm wanting to reload the canned tunes, I don't have any custom ones, would I follow the same procedure?
