There's been confusion lately over which version of Pegasus is the latest and how to get it. I've contributed to that confusion, so I'm going to try to set things straight.
When you go to the "Support" page at
PHP:
Power Hungry Performance - Customer Support and go about halfway down the page to the Pegasus Download Dropdown box, it will download the installer for Pegasus V2.01.0616. This is the
latest complete installer available! It should install fairly easily on any version of Windows (we think). DO download and read the installation manual first though, and make sure you follow the directions!
There have been two minor upgrades to Pegasus since then, but Bill has not updated the installer because it's a lot of work and he doesn't want to spend the time on it when he could be doing other, more important things.
Once you have installed Pegasus, you can open it and click on [Updates]->[Pegasus Update Manager]. If you are using Windows XP, it will probably upgrade Pegasus to V2.01.0652. If you are using Vista or Windows 7, it will likely fail to upgrade. This is NOT A PROBLEM, as far as you are concerned!
V2.01.1640 simply changed a menu name and V2.01.1652 made some internal changes for
PHP's benefit. There have been no functional changes that will effect you.
So, if you are trying to install a custom tune on your Gryphon and you are using V2.01.0616, you will click on [Updates]->[Targeted Functions]. If you are using V2.01.0640 or V2.01.0652, you will click on [Updates]->[Custom File Download] (the menu name that was changed in the later versions).
One more thing though, and this is important! DO NOT CONNECT YOUR GRYPHON TO YOUR PC BEFORE YOU INSTALL PEGASUS AND HAVE IT RUNNING! If you do, the USB drivers for the Gryphon will not install properly and Pegasus will not be able to "see" your Gryphon. See
"How To Repair a Faulty Driver Installation" which is in the FAQs at the top of this section.
Hope all this helps clear up a few misunderstandings!
