Has anyone gained mileage with the 80hp daily driver? It seems like I get reduced economy with my tunes. I love the performance but for economy I use stock. Am I missing something?

I know it`s been awhile..128 views and no reply but mine..hmmm. I do notice mileage went up while towing in the 40hp 17.5 to be exact. I`m very pleased with the chip so far!

I believe the biggest variable in MPG is the driver. I haven't even bothered to check mileage with the chip except the 3600 mile trip I made last summer pulling 10k horse trailer 12.5 mpg running 70-80mph on the 80dd. Just riding around I have not bothered because I haven't been able to run a tank of fuel through it without hitting the 120r tune for a little bit (just to make me smile). Like Bob said having that giddy-up without losing noticeable MPGs is more impressive to me. Just my opinion but I feel pretty confident that I could show an improvement if needed but still having to much fun.

Maybe that`s the problem, my foot gets heavy with the chip @ 80hp. I know simple logic would tell me that more power means more fuel = less mileage but some people claim mileage GAINS and I was curious if this was the norm or not.

NOT the norm.
Unless you do something to the truck that causes a reduction in required power to get moving/keep moving, you're going to use the same amount of fuel. Fuel does equal power, and unless the power requirements change, you're going to use the same amount of fuel. As Robert pointed out, buying a performance-enhancing device for mileage gains USUALLY doesn't work out. Some trucks respond favorably to aftermarket tuning, but you HAVE TO drive like you want to get the best mileage you can. |

Yup...and I dont even see the point of putting a 80hp tune on the chip if it`s for fuel economy and thats`s not way it`s on mine. I was just curious if anyone managed to get good mileage with the setting @80hp. I figured it would be relative "ecomomy" to the setting.

Well, it does as advertised. Again I wasnt expecting an increase in economy but the original question reads like I was.
