You'll be fine to run the higher horsepower tunes with your stock setup. You may very well encounter some low injection control pressure though. Although this will not harm the truck, it does leave some performance on the table. Fuel wise, you won't be making enough power to even worry about the supply side of the fuel system.

Ok that is what I thought But i figured i would ask someone with more experience than me with this engine. Is there any way to get higher oil pressure without going with a dual HPOP setup? The reason I ask is because I am working with a limited budget here, but I want to get all the potential gains the tunes have to offer. I don't want to end up with half-*** performance because I can't afford to do it right.

There are many HPOP options nowadays.
Diesel site sells a upgraded pump called the Adrenalin, and seems to be having good results. They also make an the Overdrive unit which basically bolts to the front of the HPOP and turns it tad bit faster. There are Stealth pumps available from Stecher Performance, these pumps come in a few different flavors from mild to wild and can be upgraded in the future if you needs change. They are VERY nice pieces but come at a cost. Other that changing HPOP's you can switch to a Hybrid injector which uses less oil than the stock split shot will. Hybrid also come in many different flavors, and you will see a sizable increase in HP's. You can run these injectors with a stock HPOP that is in good condition. I think what ever you choose the price will be roughly the same.....IIRC.

Ok well that helps me understand a little more about it thanks for the info. I should coming home sometime in August so I will probably be ordering my tunes sometime in June. That give me time to get my gauges ordered and shipped to the house by then also. Thanks for the help!

One other thing, whenever I do end up being able to afford a good hpop setup, would installing it on an engine that is not heavily modded cause any damage? I don't want to go too far with it and realize that I'm pushing more oil pressure than the rest of the engine can handle
