Default New chip - How to remove Banks stuff?

Hey all. I received my new chip this week. My Excursion (7.3 2003) came with a Banks chip in it along with a Banks tranny module of some sort underneath (can't read the label too well anymore). Can anyone offer any cautions, tips, instructions on removing these items prior to installing the Phoenix?

Also, if the Banks chip works fine, can I assume that the silicone on the connector contacts has been removed sufficiently?

Thanks

The biggest thing when removing the Trans-Command is to VERY CAREFULLY remove 1 pin at a time from the trans command harness and insert in the corresponding connector hole in the original harness. There are 2 orange wires that you do NOT want to mix up. You will have to swap 3 wires back into the original transmission connector. Outside of that, it's not too difficult.

That's a fair assumption. However, give the contacts a light dusting with the Scotch-Brite just for good measure. Just a couple quick brushes will be sufficient to remove any oxidation.

Take care.

Thanks for the info, but I am confused on removing the trans module. I removed the main harness from the tranny and pulled it down so I could see it. I pulled back the conduit and here are links to pics of what I am looking at. Can you give me a little more detail on what I am supposed to do? I think I have an idea, but would appreciate more info if possible. I also don't know how to remove and replace the wires from the harnesses. If you need more pics, let me know.

Thanks for any help.

Stand by.

I found an owner's manual online for the Transcommand. I'll study that and get back to you if I can't figure it out. Thanks.

I assume I must remove this Transcommand before I put the Phoenix in, right?

You don't HAVE to remove the TransCommand, but you might find your shifts to be a tad aggressive.

Okay, thanks again. I figured out the wiring and what to do now, so I am going to remove it.

I assume the Banks chip comes out in the reverse order that the PHP chip goes in?

Did you get the trans wires straightened out?

Yep the chips should just un-plug & plug-in from the PCM, they say to make sure the key is NOT in the ignition when you do it but I always un-hook the batt cables when I fool with the chip

Yes, I just removed the trans module. Next is to swap the chips and mount the switch. Where do folks normally put the switch?

Just took it for a spin. Didn't get to really test it out, but so far I am very pleased. The "theft" light blinks a lot. Is that normal? Also, will a key without a chip work in it now? Seems like I read that somewhere.

Thanks for all of the quick help!
