Help1 weird question

hello im new to the forum so hello to all. i drive a 1997 ford f-250 powerstroke with a diy intake with a k an n filter with a 3 in aftermarket down pipe to four inch straight piped to 6 inch tip and i just bought the pheonix chip now this is my weird question i havent installed it yet because when i bought my truck it was a salvage truck to i restored the body and was good to go. the previous owner i cant get intouch with and im pretty sure my truck has a chip in it because i blew my icp and a normal code reader wasnt reading the codes but my dad super chip micro tuner read it so do i need to get my pcm flashed to stock or can i install the chip anyways im just not sure what to do. auto fair said they can reflash it but if they blow my pcm i have to pay for a new one which i dont want to do so please anyhelp would be awesome i really want to put my php pheonix chip in so bad its sitting there taunting me.

I believe that you need to flash it back to stock before you install your new equipment. but I might be wrong because the 6 position switch might just replace the computer instead of modifying it. I would call Bill tomorrow to be certain either way.

As long as the programs on the chip are for that processor (DPC-???) it does not matter what is on it - the chip will override.
