Re: Winter project in the works.

    Four months later...

I drive it every day and it currently has 2250 miles. Although I still don't have air conditioning, rolling the windows down works fine. It has, over 6 tanks of fuel, been...

A bit of time has gone by. Progress has been made.

The engine needed two sleeves (should have sent off a different block since it was big $$$$ but too late now ). I painted it gold and purple...

    Re: Exhaust Backpressure vs Boost

I wish I had a definite answer for you concerning the pressure differential (Delta) between drive pressure and boost pressure but it all comes down to how robust the materials are and the build...

Re: Winter project in the works.

Miss and white smoke at an idle and low load. Ran fine under boost when there was enough dynamic compression to ignite the fuel. Tons of blowby into the crankcase (diesel fuel smell to the "puffs"...

Re: Winter project in the works.

I tore down the current donor engine today. It sucks that it only has 154K and a broken #8 top ring.....but that's how I ended up with it for a trade on labor costs for a replacement 6 years ago.

I am waiting on installing some steering shaft parts that should be here tomorrow before pulling the engine out for the last time. I have probably gone in and out with it 12-15 times. The steering...

    Re: LOCK UP

I wouldn't say that there's little need for it. Some driving conditions arise when the "mod" would be quite handy because no matter how much time is spent writing a calibration that will do all of...

    Re: LOCK UP

You shouldn't have any problems at all unless something goes wrong with the torque converter control. In other words, you won't experience any more of an issue using something like this whether...

I made a little progress this weekend.

Re: Winter project in the works.

The first year of marriage took a toll on "me-time" and since the shop is now technically a "heated shop" as of October, I will be able to blast through work at home.

  16. Re: Hydra Chip - Hydra Flash Software Issue Need Help

    Re: No start

Remove the chip and see if it starts. If it does, then you have a chip connection problem, a chip problem, or a calibration problem. Programming the chip with the wrong box code is not an issue and...

    Bill, if you have time.....

  19. Re: Rough idle when decelerating with new tunes on Hydra

There is no way that stock calibrations are going to work with injectors with larger nozzles as they will do exactly what you are saying they are doing.

For the injectors to run correctly, tuning...

Insert your current HEX code or box code (red).

    See the recommended calibration (blue).

Re: Winter project in the works.

Here's last week's oil pan project. I gained an inch and a half in the front and almost three inches in the rear. The sump should fit just about flush with the bottom of the engine crossmember.
