Default 66 Mustang

Man, a 66 Mustang. A project car from a while back. It was a little putter, had the 250 Straight 6 in it, no power ANYTHING. That had to the easiest vehicle I have ever worked on, those days are long gone for sure. Just felt good cruising around in it.

Man, not enough is leaving me a little

No more flashbacks today....

One of the first full engine swaps I ever did was a mildly built 289 4bbl & C4 into a 65 Mustang that had a 250 & 3spd. For anyone that has ever done a swap in a Mustang, you can understand my surprise when the engine wouldn't fit with the headers on it! As it was, we had to shoehorn the little bugger in with the headers in place and 1 guy on each side holding them up. Plus, because we didn't have the front end lifted up, we couldn't get the engine and trans lifted in at the same time so we just threw the trans in place on the ground and dropped the engine in.

Outside of those few snags, everything else went super smoothly. Scammed a factory automatic shifter out of an old junker for the trans and we were good to go.

The Christening drive was about 2 in the morning with the headers still open. Made a LOT of "friends" that night, but fortunately it was a Saturday. :o It's interesting to me just how light those little pony cars are. It takes nothing to blow the tires off of them! There really is an art to handling a car like that when launching so you don't end up looking into oncoming traffic.

Fun days, fer sure!

God that 289 was a great hunk of metal. That is a great visual of you guys trying to get that in there.

As for the test drive

Bet people heard you guys from across the county

Too funny. I know exactly what you mean with the headers and the trans. I loved my 66

For some reason I dont have the "upload picture" option in my gallerys. I scanned some pics from when I had my stang in HS (20+ yrs ago) but I can't upload it, hmmm

Scan 'em at 1200x1200, or at least 600x600. That'll make 'em plenty big. Most scanners default to 150x150 which is generally good for web stuff, but that's about it. Anything else you try to do to expand the smaller images will just make them look pixellated and blocky.
