Aftermarket Seat Heaters Installed!!!

3 Attachment(s)
I just finished installing aftermarket seat heaters. I never had any previously but I bought a 2008 Ford Sport Trac for my wife which came with the OEM seat heaters. Well... after a few trips in her truck... and a couple cold mornings after shift getting in to my truck I just had to install some.

Here's the Jegs part: Warmseats #936-WSH
Here's the Jegs link: Warmseats WSH Warmseats Universal Fit Seat Heaters

Although I can't post pics of the warmers themself since it looks stock (OEM leather FX2 Sport seats) I have included a couple pics of the mount location for the switches.

A couple of tips for anyone attempting this themself. If you have the electric driver's side seats, elevate the front and rear before unplugging and removing the seat. You'll need this space between the mechanical actuators to get to the upholstery clips.

Motorz.tv has a online video showing removal/disassembly of the seat skins. Here's the link: http://www.motorz.tv/blog/1104/ford-...-installation/

I used a 1/2" Forstner bit to make the holes in the dash column where the switches are mounted. I then used a small file to notch the side of the hole to align the index on the switch body. Perfect fit!

Also, find a switched power lead to connect so that when you exit the vehicle and shut it down your seat heaters don't remain on and cook your seats while draining your battery.

I have to say that having the heated seats is awesome! I work morning watch and after hauling a duty-belt around on my hips all night can really get uncomfortable. Sitting on winter cold leather seats certainly doesn't help. Now, I get in the truck and within just a couple minutes I'm good and toasty.

Boy did I catch alot of sh*t for having heated seats but they are damn nice.

I have mine hooked into my auto start so they come on when I use the remote to start it up in the mornings......nice and warm when I jump in.

Not only that when my back is hurtin from a long day it sure makes it feel much better on the drive home.

Money well spent!

I miss my heated seats

One these days I should see if it possible to tie in the stock heated seat in with the remote start.

BTW
Good job!

Its actually really simple, just be sure to use a relay to power the seat heaters, your autostart will be much happier.

I wonder if they have cooled seats? :smiley_roll1:
We dont get cold enough temperatures around here for them to pay for themselves.

I wonder if women have cold "backsides"? :giggle: It doesn't really get all that cold here either, but Janet has turned the heater on for her seat several times in the "cooler" weather. My seat heater's never been on. I don't even know if it works.

Longshot,
The upper level vehicles now do have that option and if they are luxurious enough the cooling will come standard.
Didn't dodge come out with a cooled compartment for beverages in one of its vehicles?
Like dodge is luxurious!!!!!

88, well my truck is definintely on the other end of the spectrum. The only luxury I had was an auto tranny. But I have made plenty of mods that bring it up(including the remote starter which I put in yesterday and lovin' it.:happy-dancing:).

I got cloth seats so thats close enough to cooled seats during the summer over here. I pity the owners of leather and vinyl because during the summer they definitely pay for it.:hehe:
And dont get me started on the dark sports cars.:smiley_roll1:

Light colored paint and tinted windows=cool enough leather seats for me!

My wife is a shiver butt!
Multi layers of clothes in the winter and she's still cold.
But in the summer it will be 90*F+ and humid and she's comfortable.

88, is your wife from a southern coastal state or something? That is called nice weather. Room temperature is also around 80. :hehe:
I think I've also got enough silver mixed in the paint to reflect some of the light. The heat was also another reason I decided to buy/install the remote starter. That way I can crank my truck at the edge of the parking lot and by the time I get my bike and backpack loaded the truck is starting to cool.:D

Gee I wonder what people ever did without remote starters?

Janet's worse! She's comfortable between about 78 - 80 degrees. Outside that range and she's either piling on the clothes to keep warm or complaining about the heat. (In Tucson, she has a lot of heat to complain about!) ;)

I've enjoyed the leather in my truck. I was a bit worried about it at first, but it's been very comfortable.
