This is really cool.

You guys might like this one. Sure could use something like this nowadays. Whatever happened to creative ingenuity?

Holy Cow! That's fantastic, Bill! Looks to me like that setup would adapt to almost any small car. I'd love to see the inside floor plan of the trailer.

Great post!

Ha. That WAS worth watching!

I got a kick out of the narrative too.

martinoledad Fri, April 2nd, 2010 09:40 PM

That was the coolest thing ive seen all day. wish i could see something like that on the road one day.

907DAVE Fri, April 2nd, 2010 10:35 PM

Now that was cool!

Wish I could do that with mine.:hehe:

Obviously the camper was designed to work on a VW, but any compact car of the 70's (Opel, Toyota, Datsun, etc.) would have fit quite well in that space. It's a shame that people don't seem to think outside the box like that anymore.

My father in law owned a suburban with one of these:

PullRite has a SAFER, STRONGER, BETTER designed hitch for you

Power Hungry Fri, April 2nd, 2010 11:11 PM

Pull-Rite is an awesome setup. I've installed two of them and they're really cool and work great.

907DAVE Fri, April 2nd, 2010 11:13 PM

How does the trailer connect to the Pull-Rite setup?

cleatus12r Fri, April 2nd, 2010 11:16 PM

It's got a standard 2" square receiver......

But it's got an arc-shaped track that it swings on and a pivot that is located almost right above the rear axle.

It's got locking pins that go on either side of the receiver too if you don't want it to move.

Power Hungry Fri, April 2nd, 2010 11:16 PM

It attaches to a ball, but then you pull forward to line up the trailer and then you attach stabilizing bars that lock the trailer to the receiver/hitch effectively making it all one single unit. At that point, your trailer "tongue" extends all the way underneath the vehicle.

907DAVE Fri, April 2nd, 2010 11:20 PM

Neat!

So there wont be any articulation between truck and trailer?

Just don't break any stabilizer bars......things might get a little weird.

cleatus12r Fri, April 2nd, 2010 11:20 PM

Thanks for the addition, Bill. It's been a while since I've seen one.

Power Hungry Fri, April 2nd, 2010 11:32 PM

There is vertical articulation, just not horizontal articulation.

Nice clip!

Equalizer is the other hitch/pulling system that utilizes the "equalizer bars"

Jackpine Sat, April 3rd, 2010 12:49 AM

I have the Equilizer hitch and never had a bit of trouble with sway. But, I DO like the way you can jackknife the trailer in that setup and continue to turn.
