Stereo build.
Here are a few pic's of a stereo build I have recently completed. This is my first stereo build using this quality gear and the first time playing with fiberglass.
The build features:
First thing was to make some mounts for the tweeters in the sail panels. Little bit of fiberglass.... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t...TweeterPod.jpg After some filler and paint..... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t...odFinished.jpg Then to mount the mids.... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0117.jpg http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0118.jpg |
Next up is the amp rack.
All laid out.... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0122.jpg Amps and crossovers mounted..... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t...Stereo/AMP.jpg Ready for glass..... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t...tereo/AMP1.jpg Cloth (actually it is a Moose sized game bag) stretched out and ready for resin...... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t...tereo/AMP2.jpg |
Shell ready to trim out......
http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0129.jpg Next up was to mount and wire the amp rack...... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0128.jpg Shell trimmed out and test fit.... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0136.jpg After a bit more trimming and some carpet, the back wall is done... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0142.jpg |
Next big project is mounting the sub. I decided to put it in the center consul seat bottom.
Should fit in there......... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0153.jpg Seat stripped, and "pan" cut out........ http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0157.jpg New bottom test fit..... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0159.jpg http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0160.jpg http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0162.jpg http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0164.jpg |
Box test fit.........
http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0165.jpg http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0167.jpg Now to finish the box.... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0170.jpg http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0169.jpg http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0173.jpg http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0172.jpg Box bottom carpeted......... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0177.jpg |
Now to make it all fit inside the cushion.
Here is the seat foam gutted out..... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0175.jpg Foam and cover on........ http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0176.jpg Seat brackets modified, and box stuffed........ http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0180.jpg Driver installed..... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0179.jpg Consul complete....... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0182.jpg Looks like there is plenty of room for travel....... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0184.jpg |
After all this I decided to ditch the passive crossovers and go active.
I decide to put the processor controller where my heater controls were originally..... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0213.jpg Next step was to make some mounts for it........ http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0214.jpg http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0215.jpg http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0216.jpg http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0217.jpg Test fit, needs a bit of tweaking..... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0219.jpg |
Now I need a place for my heater controls.
They should fit in the little cubby hole next to the ash tray.......... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0220.jpg Cubby cut out and switch's held up........ http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0222.jpg Switch disassembled and face screwed on...... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0223.jpg Switch back together......... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0224.jpg And everything put back together....... http://i619.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0225.jpg |
Hope that was enough pictures for everyone.....:hehe:
|
Wow that looks great Dave. Bet you have no problems running anybody out of that truck. Looks real good
|
so how much fun is that center seat to sit on? :hehe: I actually have my sub in the same place, but without a seat cushion... decided I dont ahve enough people in my truck most of the time to merit the time and effort needed to make it nice like yours! :) looks great, and I hope it sounds great too!
|
Some woman is going to be a lucky gal sitting in the middle seat. :evillol: :hehe:
Sorry, that's the alcohol talking. :smiley_roll1: |

I am very pleased how it turned out, and how it sounds.:D |

Check out this site i got my 7 inch flip out for 118 bucks. Looks really good hows the bass? is it echoy or is it deep? |
The bass is very clean and responsive. Its hard to describe, but having the sub (and speakers) setup in that position makes it feel like you are surrounded in music, you cannot tell were any of the drivers are.
