New Gryphon

Got the programmer 2 days ago and have been running the 85 performance. It is just want I was looking for. I did have 1 prob yesterday. When I went to fill up the fuel gage would not move and the low fuel warning kept coming up . I had to put the truck back to stock program and disconect the battery. After that it has been fine. Hope it was just a glitch. I am over all very happy so far with the service from PHP. :cheesy smile:

How low did you run your tank before filling?

Also, did you leave your key in the ignition in the on position while filling?

The computer was saying I had like 30 miles to empty. I did leave the key turned on so wife my could listen to the radio. I have done both of these before with never any problems. I did recycle the key a few time with no luck. I will keep my eye on it to see if it does it again. I really have never had any problems with the truck. I have to keep this ole girl for along time. I was thinking of trading her for a 2011, but the wife knows how to keep me from doing it. She says you can but you will have to stay in the Army till its paid off.:matt-roloff: I like what I do but I aint stayn for more than 21 or 22 years. :woot:

Weird haven't heard of that issue before?????

Longshot270 Wed, July 13th, 2011 01:57 PM

The reason I asked is because the one time I filled while leaving my key in the ignition in on position I had that trouble. You might have had it in the "on" position rather than the "accessory" position.

I have put 150 miles on this tank of gas and the gage is working fine. Must have been a glitch. I def like the performance tune. I have been running it and it is just what I has hopeing for. Ill try the tow tune next tank of gas

Any time you leave the key on while filling, the digital buffer for the gas gauge prevents the gauge from moving quickly to the full range. This is the "anti-slosh" feature which keeps the gauge from "bouncing" during acceleration and turns. Oddly, even if you turn the truck off and restart, it takes a while to correct itself. This issue does not occur when you fill up with the key off.

My trucks do the exact same thing if I fill with the key on and it's nothing to worry about. After a few minutes it should eventually level itself out.

Power Hungry thanks for the info. ? is it posible to get a 3rd custom tune without sending in the programmer. I was thinking of an E85 tune for my 3rd tune?

Power Hungry Thu, July 14th, 2011 10:04 PM

Not a problem. Just fill in the order form for an additional tune and we'll get something together for you.

Enjoy!

If you've ever driven an older Chevy truck (heck, even my 91 Oldsmobile does it), you know how annoying fuel level gauges are when they're not buffered.

Accelerate, gauge reads full. Decelerate, gauge reads empty. Turn left, needle goes one way, turn right, needle goes the other way. The only way to know what the actual fuel level is to stop on level ground and sit there for a minute while the fuel quits sloshing around.

I noticed a problem the other day. It has happened 2 times now. When I am useing cruse control and go to slow down with the cruse i take my finger off the cruse button and the truck gives itself gas I feel a shutter in the tranny. Now I have NEVER had this happen before, and I use cruse all the time. The truck doesnt do this when I am not useing cruse control. Just wondering if anybody else has had this happen. I have my Gryhpon set to my performance tune.

Please fill out your user info profile so its more complete.....ie hex code and serial number and contact info.....then us remote volunteer moderators will be able to better assist you.....we're not in php's office......also when posting issues please include year and engine size.....

Interesting - I never slow down with the "coast" button. If I need to reduce speed, I just tap the brake to turn off cruise and then reengage it at the new desired speed. Likewise, to speed up to a new higher speed, I use the gas pedal and then tap "Set" when I reach the speed I want. So, I've never felt what you feel.

The transmission MAY not unlock the Torque Converter to coast down using your method, then when you release the button you'd feel a "lurch". I know with my method, the TC unlocks during coasting, which saves gas, but it takes a bit longer to reach the new speed.

Sounds like my issue two years ago.....the tip in between 3-4 may need to be adjusted +1

I have been in performance since I got the programmer back until this weekend. We went camping and I set it in the towing. Used the cruse same as I allways do tried the coasting with the button did not notis any shudder. How would I fix the shudder in performance.

If you have limited understanding of the programmer it would be best if Bill did this in the custom tune itself....

88racing. I am what you would call not computer smart. :) Over all I am VERY happy with the tunes. Only prob I hvae noticed is that shutter. Would Bill have to wright a hole new performance tune?

I tried looking for my info on how I used the custom options menu to do this and i'm coming up with nothing:shrug:.....so it must have been an email Bill sent to me.......I don't have one of the monochrome gryphon's anymore.....so for me to try giving you a step by step procedure on how to adjust this will be tough for me to do......

If this a canned tune then you'll have to adjust through the custom options menu

If this is a custom tune then you'd be better off having Bill adjust it....then you'll need to put your truck back to stock and then use peagasus and reload the tune when Bill get it done.....
