newbie in Delaware

I have been thinking of purchasing a tuner for a while now. I have a 2 wheel drive F-150 with the 5.4l engine, Airaid CAI, PowerAid throttle body spacer, Magna Flow SIDO exhaust and automatic trans. I tow my wifes drag car to the track at least twice a month. I was wondering if this tuner will actually help with towing performance and fuel mileage. What I am understanding also, is that I will have to wait for the custom tunes because of my CAI. What are my options with this tuner? Thanks

Hey Kevin!

Welcome to the forum!

Nice "Pony Hauler"!

As for running a cai with a canned tunes, you can! Just use level 2 canned tow tune, while you wait for the customs.

Welcome! :howdy: You've come to the right place and I think a programmer is a good choice for your needs. As Lars said, since you have a CAI, run the Level 2 tune (it's a "richer" tune and will help correct the tendency of the CAI to make you engine run lean). According to PHP, though, you should try to avoid putting your foot in it till you get your custom tune - which will be HARD! :hehe:

Welcome to the forum, the tuner would definitely give you better towing performance.

What kind of custom tunes should I ask for? I only run 87 octane fuel. The higher octane is for the race car. Don't get me wrong, I do like to get on it, and show people that this truck will run. :hehe:

Welcome :howdy: Id say get the 87 performance and the 87 tow custom tunes. Leave the canned 91 performance.

Welcome to the PHP house. Excellent choice of a tuner. 87 performance, 87 tow, and 93 performance would be excellent choices.

How many tunes will this hold? Do the custom stunes over ride the canned tunes? Sorry for all the questions. When I spend $500, I like to make a good choice and know what I am getting.
Thanks

Custom tunes replace the canned tunes. So, if you got one custom tune and had Bill put it at the Level 1 position, you'd still have Level 2 and 3 canned tunes.

My Level 3 tune is the canned one and I've never used it!

Thanks to everyone for the information and the compliments. I guess I need to get the order form filled out and pay my money.
