single shots wont idle
needing some help in a bad way, recently put a set of 180cc%100 nozzle single shots in a 02 SD, truck runs great other than im having an issue getting it to idle, as soon as she kicks off she starts loping real hard and wont stablize unless you feather the throttle a little, once its stabilized it idles just fine , did a data log and it looks like its bouncing from 100 to 0 on mass fuel desired, just looking for some direction if yall wouldnt mind :woot:

Do you have a chip or programmer that you can use for custom tunes? |
yessir,I also got a few base files from you guys for those injectors, i spent about 8 hours the other day tweaking it and data logging and just cant seem to nail it on the head, not sure if i need too look at duty cycle or my pulse width
|
Are you running the 180/100 files? Or the standard files for the stock injectors?
The 180/100 files should actually idle pretty well. We've used those for many years with very few issues. |
ive tried all three that i got and no change, truck came in for injectors and cups but started and ran just fine
|
ive also put some miles on the truck as well to rule out air in the system
|
So the next question is... How does it run on the standard Hydra calibrations?
|
EVEN HARDER TO START
|
as soon as it sees enough rpm to fire off it drops duty cycle down to almost nothing and you have to play with the throttle to get it to stay running, after that it idles fine but if you hold it too the floor and let off the rpm drops down and then dies, watching the data log it shows the duty cycle try too pick back up after the rpm and icp have already dropped down too far to stay running

Here's an easy test. This will quickly determine if you have a tuning issue (not likely based on the symptom and graph) or mechanical issue.
ANY injector will start, run, and idle on stock tuning in the PCM. They can all be driven that way too......with the only real indication that something isn't right being a super-touchy accelerator pedal. With singles, regardless of having 100% nozzles, it will start, idle a bit rough for a few seconds, then sort itself out. Returning to idle will also be a little rough but as before, the PCM will handle itself and figure out a relatively decent idle. I, as well as many others, have run 250/200% and 160/100% injectors long distances on from-Ford tuning in pinch. Set your Hydra to bypass mode ("00") when the key is on. The truck doesn't have to be running, just ignition on. Push the left Hydra button until the digits "00" are displayed and wait a couple seconds until the display slightly flashes (confirmation). Turn the ignition to "off"". Wait a second and then start the vehicle. If the engine starts and acts the same way (start and stall), it's absolutely NOT the tuning and you have a bit of diagnosing to do....I suspect this will be the case. To get the Hydra out of bypass mode, the safest way is to reverse the steps although it will switch from bypass to another position while running....and likely stutter/stall - so I suggest: Ignition on, switch to a "tune". Wait for the flash. Turn the key off, wait a second, then start. |
Finally got her ironed out, had to raise the duty cycle by %85🤯 and she purred like a kitten, bigger hpop is on the way 👌
