Hi all. to introduce myself i am 18, a senior that is set to gradutate here in 2 weeks and am working as tech doin light work at Firestone but im watching and learning. I am working on getting my ase's. I have a 2004 f150. its extended cab 4x4 5.4 i have a leveling kit a volant CAI, edge tuner (that i want to get custom tuned) and a banks exhaust. My headers will be here tomorow. im planning on getting my tranny built here next month or so and doin some other power adders before i drop some real money into some serious modifications.

Any help with anything or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Glad to have you with us. :howdy: If you don't already know it, PHP's recommendation for using an Edge with a CAI is to set it on Level 2, and try to keep your foot out of it. Your truck could easily run lean on canned tunes. The Level 2 tune is somewhat richer than Level 3, so it's "kinder" on your engine.

Good for you taking the ASE tests. :2thumbs: I wish you the best of luck. Too many people feel they are a waste of time, which is sad because I've always felt a personal sense of accomplishment after completing the tests and getting my certificates.

A few words of advice... Definitely take the practice tests. They are invaluable to giving you an idea of what's going to be on the actual tests and how they like to formulate the questions. It's a few extra bucks, but money well spent. Also, don't try to do too many tests at one time. It can be mentally exhausting taking tests for several hours. I understand many folks like to try to get as many certifications as they can in one shot, but it can be a disadvantage as well as you'll have to take all your re-certs at the same time as well. It's a little easier to spread that out over a year or two.

Sounds like you have a good plan on your truck. On the transmission part I can help, I have billet torque converters for them among other great transmission parts, not on website yet. I put a triple disk torque converter on mine with a double deep transmission pan, while the trans was out I put a new overdrive band in also, all I can say is wowa! My truck is an '05. The valve body I recommend running is an '06 version, they completely revamped the 4r75w trans in '06 fixing the problems with the '04 and '05's.
