Phoenix module.........Help truck not starting

Bill,
I finally got my Phoenix module back in the truck and all was well I thought. Let me give you some background. I had ordered a Phoenix a couple months ago. Upon receipt I installed exactly per directions and I was truely impressed. However the whisper mode had inadvertantly gotten left off. No problem, you guys said to send it back, which I did, and you got it back to me. Once installed all seemed well again. The whisper mode is really neat. But the 25, 45 and 65 hp modes seemed to shift differently from the first time I had the chip on. Maybe it was just me but the shifts just didn't seem as firm, almost like the stock shifts, so I figure I will drive some and just try the different positions.
Then yesterday I get in the truck and I get the engine check lite and it won't start. (Had driven the day before) I pulled the battery cables off and removed the parking break assembly in order to get to the back of the ECM and Phoenix module to make sure it was snug. I didn't remove it from the circuit board, only pressed to make sure it was fully seated. Put all back together and everything started fine. When I drive it this time it seems like it is shifting like when it was originally installed and like I expected. I know I want to get some more driving time to make sure this won't happen again but had a couple questions.
1) Was I imagining the shifting of the tranny or is it just possible that the module wasn't fully seated the second time I put it in? but yet the truck still ran. Would the addition of the Whisper mode had any affect?
2) Is this a common problem and was I correct with the actions I took to resolve the problem.
3) Do I need to throw a 1/2 and 10 mm socket wrench in the glove box in case it happens again? lol

Thanks,

Bukbugy, you might help Bill out if you at least included your name in your UserCP. That way, he'd be able to research your module and what he did to it more quickly.

Sounds though, like you MAY have found the actual cause of the problem! A poorly seated module. But, of course, you DID disconnect and reconnect the battery, which may have had a "curative" effect too.

I think I'd have the wrenches on board, at least in the near future!

Thanks again,

Once upon a time, while listening to Click and Clack in Car Talk, a guy called in and told of repairing a suspension component with duct tape. He was still driving on this repair! :yikes2: And, he was an Engineer! :hehe: It's the all-purpose tool! :thumbs up yellow:

As long as the reset line terminal isn't making contact, the PCM tuning will not be bypassed to the chip.
