Need Help (after hours)

After using chip for a few days decided to try some other tunes.
With truck off I removed chip and switch.
Inserted chip into programmer.
Connected usb cable.
Connected power supply.
opened software.
selected new tunes
verify chip is in pos 1.
verify program is in 6-position chip.
clicked on write to chip, goes through loading tunes then click ok to erase chip and i get an error"The module was not either placed in pos 1 or is not properrly formatted as a multi position module".

check diagnostics and multi authority bit =FF

tried reseating chip no change....

Thanks Mike

Thanks Lars.

mkf350, did you put the programs on the chip that you have been running for "a few days" or were they on it when it arrived from PHP?

Usually, you should erase before attempting to write. I don't have the package you do though, so I hope that Bill can get you going.

Mike,

Not sure what happened there. It sounds as if the chip might have lost the formatting, but not sure as to why.

First question... When connected and the software is open, what are the PID, CID, and FID in the lower right corner of the application?

Second... At this point, does the chip still work in the truck or is it completely unusable?

Let me know where we're at and I'll get a new chip out the door for you.

Thanks.

Chip still is usable.

Ok will do.

I notice you're running an evaluation copy of Windows 7, could this be contributing to the problem? (Nice wallpaper, by the way).

As Corey indicated, I don't think Windows 7 is the problem. It obviously reads the Programmer ID (PID) of 'BC' but for some reason the programmer isn't correctly identifying the chip as indicated by the CID 'FF' - FID 'FF'.

I'm not sure if it's something simple with the chip or not but will most likely replace it it just to ensure there's not going to be any further issues. We'll see when it arrives.

I am excited though that it appears that everything is working on W7. I guess I may have to pony up and give Uncle Bill a few more bucks so we can have a decent test platform.

We'll keep you posted.

I agree, I dont think its windows 7, I had done the original burn with it and worked ok.

Bill u can download the free beta version at microsofts website if u really want to for a test platform. But you must before 8/20/09. Version is good for one year.

Groovy Chick, I will let u know when its sent.

Very cool! I just need to find a computer that I can put it on without worrying about breaking something important. I'm sure not gonna use my main PC or either of my laptops as I can't afford to have anything go wrong on those. I have another PC I can put together (just need some memory) and throw a version on there.

Does the test version require a prior install or will it work as a fresh install? Guess I'll go check for myself. :D

Thanks for the heads up. :2thumbs:
