My Gryphon died!

I need some help. Today I logged in and saw that Bill has updated my tunes for the new firmware. I went ahead and returned my truck to stock, and brought it in to plug into the computer. First I checked for the latest version of Pegasus, and no updates were available. I then plugged in the Gryphon and proceeded to update the firmware, all was fine. I went out and hooked it to the truck, it gave me the warning screen and asked me to push enter, so I did. Then it said "ERROR - FILE MISSING - SUPPORT.EGC". I started reading on the forum and saw that I needed to reconnect to the computer and run "Targeted Functions" in Pegasus. I did that and it was processing file 2 of 3 of the custom tunes and then popped up "COM 3 TIMEOUT - PLEASE RETRY", so I did. Now, when I retry like Pegasus asked it says "VALIDATION ERROR - Unable to determine the current program state (Level) of the unit." I clicked OK and in the Pegasus window it reads "Update failed. Please contact your vendor for assistance."

The firmware update completed succesfuly, so I don't think that a bad firmware killed it. I think it needs to be reset and redownload the targeted functions (custom files).

So now my Gryphon is a very expensive paper weight...it does nothing, and I don't have that much paper around :help:

Ok...well I don't know what happened, but the problem has corrected it self. I unplugged the Gryphon and then rebooted the computer. After reboot, I reconnected the Gryphon and went to "Targeted Files" in Pegasus, and everything went fine. The Gryphon programed and everything is working correctly. Well I guess it just goes to show that if you run into a similar problem...it might be your computer...try rebooting it and see what happens:woot:: THANKS MICROSOFT FOR SUCH A QUALITY OPERATING SYSTEM!!!! :cheesy smile:

Ya, that one scared the !@#$ out of me!

1st.
Glad you got to work!

2nd.
The MS BS is a crock? Isn't it!

3rd.
The only things I consider paper weights on this forum are throttle body spacers!

Just to add to the "Microsoft Bashing" (not really, but they make such good targets, right?), way back when I was a new Edge owner (before the "founding" of PHP), I tried to update the firmware on my Edge, at the advice of Bill Cohron over on the f150Online forum. The process started normally, but about halfway through, I got the "Blue Screen Of Death" (BSOD).

I was absolutely certain the Edge was toast. But after a reboot, a second attempt went without a hitch.

I'm glad you had a similar resolution, PhqChevys! And yes, my reaction to the BSOD was much the same as your reaction to your problem.
