You have got a REMANUFACTURED PCM there.

No big deal. What year and transmission does your truck have again?

You may have to do some "intrusive" investigation.

You see the 6 bolts that hold the PCM together? Use a 7/32" or 5.5mm socket and pull the bolts out.

You will see printing on one edge of the circuit board that says "DPC-###" (DPC followed by three numbers). This is all that Bill needs to know to get you hooked up with some programs. I see you live in California and that you have an automatic transmission so that may narrow it down a bit but it's not conclusive. Getting the actual DPC code off of the PCM circuit board will be an absolute definitive way of knowing at this point.

Besides, you'll have to clean the PCM contacts anyway so you're already ahead of the game by dissecting your PCM now.

Ok I put it back together I had to drive to the bank. I got some numbers outa the plug. guess that wont help. Ok I will pull apart again and get those numbers. The trucks seems to run better since i pulled the pcm would that do anything? will post more tonight.

Running better? Hmmmm.

Shouldn't have affected it at all. Cleared shift adapts maybe.

ok i got the pcm out the numbers are dpc-4xx . Is there anything else i need to do before i put it back in?

cleatus12r Thu, January 28th, 2010 09:09 AM

4xx?

I haven't seen a PCM that doesn't have at least two numbers. Are you sure it doesn't say "45x" or something along those lines?

You might have to get ahold of Bill with all of the numbers on the board. I can't help you any more with this.

Sorry.

Can you let him know. I just paid for the chip today. Heres the whole number pwb6938/dpc-4xx/xc3f-ba and otherside g-030954

If you have given Bill your year and transmission information you should be good to go.
