Stock Tune??
Ok, so it finally warmed up enough for me to install my Gryphon and I've loaded the canned level 2. Very impressive change to say the least. I'm really looking forward to my custom tunes. Is there anyway for me to back up the stock tune? I know the Gryphon stores a copy, but can I connect the USB cable and store another copy.

You sound more paranoid than me! :yikes2: (And that's saying a lot). :hehe:
I know when you create a tune and load it into the PCM, the unit creates files containing that tune and all the custom options you've entered. And, I know you can download that file, so Bill can look at it if there's problems. It seems logical, doesn't it, that the stock tune copy would also be in a downloadable file? Bill would have to answer that. Trouble is, what could you do with it once it was on your PC? I don't know that it's something that can be reloaded to replace a corrupted stock tune file on the Gryphon. But, maybe that's possible too. - Jack |
You can store a copy on your PC by plugging the unit into the USB cable and selecting [Utilities] -> [Read Critical Files] in Pegasus. This will store the stock file and VID information.
Getting it back into your unit in the event of a failure is another matter entirely. I need to rebuild everything on this end and set up the download for you. Hope this makes sense. |
Paranoid, nah. Just an engineer who's knows that the first 90 days with electronics can be the worse, when it comes to failures. Most manufacturer's perform burn in on their devices to screen out the bulk of these, but it's not 100% effective. (20 years as a manufacturing engineer has taught me a boat load)
Based on experience, I know it's better to be somewhat prepared vs totally SOL when/if something were to happen. Thanks for the info. Hopefully the files will sit on my hard drive and never be needed. |
