why do the horsepower on the towing tunes decrease as the weight oes up?

The higher the "power increase" the higher your EGT's will go.

They allow you to keep your foot in it without burning anything up. Also, shifting strategy is different with a tow tune.

For example. I have the 40 high tow. If I drive completely unloaded with this tune it shifts so hard I feel like I'm getting whiplash. You wouldn't want to do that with a higher hp tune.
