Love the chip

I've had the chip for a couple of months now and been able to use it in all conditions. Bottom line is I love the tuning.

The shifting strategy is so much better, I can actually feel five distinct shifts and they occur just where they would if I had a manual trans. At first the TC lockups were way too hard slamming into place but with time this has softened to a normal quick shift. Either my trans is about to explode or the trans has "learned" something. The trans behavior is actually more of a benefit than the extra power.

The extra power is second best. Running empty, I am able to just accelerate at will. No downshifting, spooling up, and noise just a kick in the butt when you add fuel. When loaded I don't notice the power increase as much but that's okay, I am loaded.

Smoke is only present when I do something stupid like try to accelerate suddenly. Normal driving is smokefree and that's good.

Fuel mileage empty has improved at least one mpg. I'm an engineer and keep records, I know mpg is better now but nothing earth shattering.

I use 80dd for daily commute, 100perf for long freeway trips, and 65 tow for heavy towing and hauling.

The whisper mode is not recommended, it's not quieter just a lower rpm idle. Oh well.

The high idle/no start combo works perfectly. This is an excellent choice for one of your slots. Makes me want to buy a winch.

I had some glitches with installation and inctructions which will remain a sore spot but the tuning is spot on. Good job guys.

Glad you are enjoying your chip. Love mine as well! I find the 100 performance tune to be slightly better for highway as well, but 80DD does just fine too.

I think I corrected this on another forum you posted in, but we have a 3 spd tranny with OD. one of your 5 shifts is the TC locking up. The only way you have a 4spd and OD is if you have a 6.0L. IIRC yu have a 7.3 with 4R100.

Enjoy the chip; I can tell you I love it way more than the DP I ran for 4 yrs.

Yes, 2000 7.3 with 4r100. 235 factory HP and 500 TQ at the flywheel.

I was careful to say five distinct shifts and not 5 different gears. I know the 4r100 is a 4 speed but with the TC lockup it really feels like there is another gear, especially when the lockup is so aggressive.

I have decided to mount the knob in the space right beside the 4wd knob on the dash. Right now it is draped over the steering column.

Thanks for the clarification, didn't catch that originally.
I did the same thing with my knob before the install.
