Used Gryphon questions

As I was getting ready to buy a new Gryphon for my 06, 5.4 and I came across a used one for sale. It has 3 custom tunes for a truck that has just about the same mods I already have. He put his truck back to the stock setting before removing the Gryphon, and has supplied the HEX code. A couple of questions, does anyone see any issues with buying a used Gryphon, I believe the individual to be a very honest person. Anything special I need to do before installing it, and last, should I re-register it under my name with PHP.
Thanks for your input.

I would definately contact PHP to be sure it is compatible.

I DON'T see any problems with this, but you still may need your tunes rewritten. If you find your HEX code matches his, and your trucks are substantially the same modification-wise, then the tunes would probably work pretty well on yours too. If there are differences in your driving styles and driving goals, then you'd probably want your own tunes.

You CAN talk to Bill about this - he will not try to sell you a tune you don't need and if he advises getting one, I'd take him at his word.

Do understand though, that whatever warranty the other guy had with PHP on the programmer will not convey. I honestly don't see this as a problem, but you should be aware of this.

X2!!!

You can plug it in to find out your hex code. If your hex code doesn't match don't go any further. Bill needs your hex code in case tunes need a rebuild. Unplug it and wait for response.

Yes I would register it with php. You can do that in your user cp in this forum.

Hey thanks Jack and Lars. I know there would be no warranty, I just wanted to get myself in the system. Is there a possibility that both trucks have the same Hex code. I don't know much about this, but always thought those were unique numbers to the vehicle. This is the Gryphon that belonged to Dexx over on F150 online. He's totaled his truck and apparently buying a Toyota. I don't have it in hand yet, we were just sorting out the details to make sure this would work with no major headaches. I hope to hear from Bill on this soon. Dave

Dave
I know you'd like a response asap but they are shutdown this week(being 3rd week of the month) so the best I can suggest is keep the pm's going and also emails. I don't know if they are monitoring the forum or not. They do catchup work this week and their phones are also off.

I'm aware they are closed to the public this week. I have an e-mail into both Bill and Corey. So I'm hoping to hear back from one of them....or if I'm lucky, the mad scientist will make a personal appearance in this thread.:cheesy smile:

Well I heard from Bill.....so now I'm and expert. LOL Seems that I have about a 10% chance that the custom tunes will work. If the Hex codes are not the same when I plug it in and check, all I have to do is hook the Gryphon up to the Pegasus software, set it back to stock, canned tunes...and I'm good. No custom tunes, but Bill can build me some more for my setup.
