longer switch wiring?
i was wondering if anyone has modified the wiring of the position switch. i would really like to have the switch right behind my steering wheel but it only makes it about halfway there. so right now im looking at putting it in the glove compartment to have it hidden but i dont really like it being that far away

I have a longer switch wire. I'll trade for a standard-length cable if you want.
The standard ones are 40 inches. The one I would trade you is 64 inches (2 feet longer). |
I was thinking of hitting up the local electronics supply store to see if I can find the matching plugs for the chip wiring and making some extentions. I wanted to put my switch up in the center overhead console. you can cut and splice in some extra wire too.. its just one power wire and 6 signal wires to tell chip which program its on... nothing special as far as i am aware

Generally, 22ga wire should be fine. Just match color for color and make absolutely sure you heat-shrink all the wires. Shorts are BAD! Please keep in mind that if the switch or chip fails we won't be able to warranty it.
Take care. |

The biggest thing to be careful with is:
1) STATIC! Static makes things go *poofski*. :( 2) Abrasion against the chassis/dash components that may cause the leads to short out and damage both the chip and the PCM. Make sure throughly wrap the individual splices as well as sheathing the additional segment to prevent chafing. Other than that, it should be straightforward. :) |
