One thing to keep in mind is that the throttle controls are load based and the more gear you use, the less load the engine sees and the less power it will try to make. We had a customer running 4.88's in his truck and the poor thing wouldn't get out of its own way. Now if he was running 38's, everything would have evened out and would have been fine but he was running pretty short tires (33's I think) and it simply killed his performance.
4.30's would actually be a good call, if you could get a set to fit the front. Gears are always a tough decision because they are QUITE expensive to do on a 4x4 and not something you want to change more than once.
