I'm going to come back to the OP's original post. Why pi$$ off the environmentalists? The whole idea of "smoke show" seems ridiculous to me.

A few years ago, we rode the Silverton train from Durango to Silverton and back. We were fortunate to have the CEO of the train line on board and he talked to us. This is a coal burner, and environmentalists have been giving him trouble from day one. He's done everything possible (clean burning coal, etc, etc) to minimize the impact. But, if they had their way, this wonderful piece of American history would be shut down.

Here's a link to a picture I posted in a thread for Wil Cohron: http://dygytalworld.ehost-services13...81&postcount=5

This engine has POWER! It doesn't need to advertise that ability with black smoke, in fact, when it is running properly, the smoke is a nice, soft gray color.

I honestly believe diesel is the way to go, but it won't be if people pump black smoke out of their tailpipes! Please, try to go with the flow. Don't be obnoxious.
