Whisper makes the morning white smoke horrendous. Gonna hafta test this one after it warms up. It's designed to be used when warm as you mentioned.

The PCM comes out after removing the two bolts and the sealing flange on the firewall. E-brake has to come out to allow access to push the PCM out of the clips that hold it in. It comes out through the firewall.

I never did figure out how to remove the board from the case. I cleaned it with the scotchbrite (Thanks!), acetone and Q-tips.

I did not find a gold colored ground tab. You won't on a 95-97. No worries.

I found that to route the switch wire past the e-brake assembly, the top stud had to be spaced with a 3/8 inch nut behind the assembly to prevent squishing the wire. On the old trucks I usually use 3/8 lockwashers to shim the parking brake mechanism.

The inner fender liner has to be one of the seven layers of hell....Try doing it on one that's had major body damage right there.

Had I remembered, I would have taken pics, but I did not. Perhaps someone would be willing to take photos of their install to help those that are about to jump into this project. Paticularly how the chip interfaces with the PCM board.

Now let's go drive it!!

Aaron

It kind of makes me wonder what instructions you got with the chip.....you are writing this as you had no idea what to do. I'm not bashing or poking fun...it's just that detailed instructions for a 95-97 should tell you how much of a pain it is.
