You shouldn't operate the truck in 4WD on a hard-surfaced road, because it makes the handling "squirrelly" which could lead to a nice crash. So, if you compared the times on a dirt road, you're probably OK. But, this wouldn't really tell you what you're trying to find out, since 4WD would probably minimize slip on the dirt road.
I think 4WD gives you more mechanical losses though, so I doubt if you'd see better performance if you did successfully test on pavement.
