Phoenix Switch-On-The-Fly Chip (DISCOUNTINUED) (Disabled) Power Hungry no longer sells the Phoenix/TS chip, but if you need custom tuning we can recommend a few really good tuners that will be able to still provide tuning and support for your chip. If you have any other questions or comments about the Phoenix/TS chip, please post it here. |

On my way back from Vegas I had it in the "smoke show" tune cruising about 65 mph. I switched it to the 65 tune and the injectors would get louder. At an idle there is no differance. Any reason why it does this?

Chuck,
The smoke tune has a significantly lower amount of ICP than the regular tunes. This results in quieter operation.

With the lower ICP why would it have a better SOTP feel over the 65 tune. It picks up and takes off harder and gets to speed quicker, 2 lbs more boost and lower egts than the 65.

Lower ICP will extend the burn time of the fuel and provide a little more push in low to mid RPM torque. Higher ICP will improve atomization and cause a faster burn, which at high RPM is great but may result in a loss of power at lower RPMs as the burn will completer faster than the piston can properly align to use it. What can often help when running higher ICP levels is to reduce timing a bit more so that the heat expansion occurs at the proper point for maximum effective pressure on the piston.
